4 hour mission in VIP airlineer with CJ4 throwed in the rubbish.
I check charts, runway lenght but never have doubt about the surface…When I saw: Runway xx Water…I could not believe it.
I should have tried an emergency landing to get money from the mission?
The problem is this: Are there any planes for VIP company to water land? NO!! SO why bother putting those missions?

Add in closest alternative airport and re-activate your flight plan.

If you can change runway and procedures, it should allow you to add and fly to alternate airport. That is real life in an emergency. Only one way to find out, do a short cargo mission and take the hit to see if it works before trying it. You best put in the alternate from the start if you are going to give it a go. It would be interesting to us all if it works. 
You will get penalized
Did you experience this? Which ding do they give you? See that is annoying if they do that, because in real life it is the only way out you have. For saving all your passangers and communicating to the ATC you have to deviate it should be a plus and a rewarded situation.
