On Sunday 15th May at 1900Z (8pm BST), VirtualFlight.Online will host a group flight using radio navigation to navigate from Wynyard to Cambridge in Tasmania - stopping off at Launceston along the way.

Rules / Guidelines

  • If joining the Discord server for voice communications during the flight, conversation must remain family friendly, respectful, and not stray into any subjects that might offend such as adult jokes, politics, religion, racism, or hate-speech.
  • Try to stay with the group! If the group is becoming stretched, loop back and join the rear of the group.
  • Try to stay online until everybody has landed at the final airfield.

Repeated failure to follow the rules will see you banned from the Discord server.

Flightplan

This flight will use RADIO NAVIGATION between waypoints. There is no flight plan file - only the instructions below. If you’re hoping to take part and you don’t yet know how to use NAV radios and VOR stations, this is a great opportunity to learn - you can follow the pack, and learn the instruments along the way!

  • YWYY Wynyard - Departure Airfield
  • leave on a 102° heading for 75 miles
  • YMLT Launceston / LT (Launceston) VOR 112.60 - Full Stop landing - Break for Coffee
  • leave on a 156° heading for 78 miles
  • YCBG Cambridge / HB (Hobard) VOR 112.70 (Cambridge is 1 mile west of Hobart VOR)

Total distance : approx 152nm

Suggested Aircraft

The stock Microsoft Flight Simuator Cessna 172 will be perfect for this flight.

If flying something different, aim for a cruise speed of 120 knots MAXIMUM.
