Visual degradation on Xbox

There’s always the worrying option though of cutting back on the dynamic LOD impact by reducing the overall level of detail - which is effectively how FS2020 ran OK on the XBS and in some cases smoother than on the XBX. Is it better to have details that sometimes don’t appear until the object is fairly/really close to never having those details in the first place?

Let’s be positive and hope the 2024 is a lot more efficient and can run with decent detail levels and doesn’t have the dynamic LOD at the current level of aggression. IIRC, the Xbox isn’t due for a hardware refresh until 2028 so it’ll be a painful wait if it doesn’t improve a lot…

New xbox and new sim in 2028, lets hope both are designed to work together correctly

Series X. I recently did a total reinstall of the sim to try and resolve a separate issue with World Updates not fully installing.

I’m just going to wait it out and see how 2024 goes for other people. I’ll be going back to PC eventually anyway but right now I just have no patience to even both turning on the XB

Sorry to hear that. I have all traffic turned off, multiplayer off, rolling check at 20GB. I’ve also deleted all of the world updates. In case that helps…

Rolling cache only really helps if you fly the same airfield/areas repeatedly as it load them in for faster retrieval. I find better performance with it turned off

I was never aware that they’d stated that will not engage on the forums. Away from the forums they haven’t exactly been open about this problem. I think I remember one time on one of the live streams they briefly touched upon it and they were seemingly under the impression it was only being experienced on the series s and they seemed rather nonchalant about it. Since then I haven’t heard much from them but if you have id be interested to know what was said.

You have to understand that Asobo have Microsoft breathing down their necks. There are no doubt some things they just can’t say or do.

Are you on X?

And if so, how’s the performance on the 787-10 for you?

Do you operate with full real-world traffic? Do you tweak anything in your options?

I’ve been with the sim since the release version on the Xbox in 2021 ,also hoped after every sim update the sim would finally run as expected, a certain point I had to accept SU was not improving the situation on the Xbox Version. There is a certain point I don’t understand. Own a lot of addons and know exactly how to overload my sim when use third part aircraft, scenery and essential addons, but I don’t know what to expect. It’s like a kind of Russian roulette in Flight Sim Edition. It could be a BS,CTD,LOD decrease or/and an extreme loss of FPS. The system already knows when loading the addons that there maybe problems, you can sometimes tell by the long loading time before the flight, but why don’t we get any feedback from the sim? Just a small hint could help to restart the flight and possibly make changes, before the sim shows weird behavior

No, I have real AI traffic on for now but I’ve read multiple reports of people keeping AI traffic to either OFF or using offline traffic with different levels via the slider.

Worth experimenting I think.

Sorry, did I read that correctly? Microsoft is rolling out their next-generation game console in 2028?

I cannot delete world updates, that’s part of the issue. As they do not think they are fully installed, there is no delete option

Falls in line with theirs and Sony’s usual timelines

Also ties in with MSFS 2020 not going beyond 2028.

I believe there is still hope for the Xbox. I have been playing for years on both Playstation and Xbox consoles and the really good looking / optimized games always came out in the second half of their lifetime cycle. It is no contradiction to expect that MS2024 can both look and perform better what we have now.

I had a small flight on the Cessna Caravan around and into LVFR KMIA with real time traffic on the XBOX S. It all went well. This was also streamed. Some people report CTD on this type of flying. Of course, I will keep testing performances with other aircraft. Maybe a pointless comment from our part but I think it’s a hopeful one for some.

So 24 has a super thin client and apparently was loading up in under a minute. Sadly my Internet is only 40mps so im gonna struggle with all this streaming data as you fly in areas etc. Its saying 100mps minimum to run smoothly on xbox. Ive got 2020 running ok at the moment anyway. Doing a world tour in a single prop and its actually really good. Not having any proplems thus far.

Phil spencer needs to step down immediately. We need a ram upgrade on console like yesterday and we also need VR capability. If this game was allowed on PlayStation id be gone in a second.

With the advertised minimum recommended RAM being 16GB, Series X yet again will be pushed to its limit, and series S with its whole 10Gb will barely be able to run the sim.
At what point was this supposed to improve the console experience?
Also it recommends 50ish Mbps for average streaming.
I live like many millions of other users in a rural location wher 35mbps is our best day max speeds.
Why do MS/Asobo assume everyone lives in California or a major metropolis?

Answers on a postcard please

Yeah all these glossy trailers are all well and good but I have my doubts that it’s going suddenly improve the way the sim performs overnight. If the servers continue in their current state I can’t see how this going to run any different from what we’re currently used to.
I will defiantly wait and see and keep a keen eye on the the forums after release and see how it’s performing on Xbox x, internet speeds for me are not a concern, however if the LOD and visual imperfections are still going to evident in the new sim I will almost certainly hold off purchasing.
