Visual degradation on Xbox

Haven’t seen any reviews of the Xbox versions on YouTube yet unless I missed them hopefully get some reviews soon to see exactly how msfs2024 performs

No, no xbox footage at all yet. The preview event used PCs, understandably, but I’m hoping we might see something console specific at the Tokyo Game Show next week, but who knows?

I’m really hoping that FS2024’s increased use of streaming from the cloud (including marketplace purchases, apparently) and better use of multithreading will free up some memory, but I’ll be honest in saying I don’t really know how a lot of the technical stuff works

I just keep thinking that Asobo & MS surely wouldn’t be so confident in releasing on console if it didn’t run to a decent standard.

Of course, greater reliance on the cloud isn’t unfortunately an answer for those in rural areas with low bandwidth, but I suppose technology has its limits.

My own use of the current sim has dropped pretty drastically since the issues on console began, and I’m really hoping that FS2024 allows me to fully embrace my hobby again - but it really shouldn’t take moving to a new sim to do that.

Yes, series X

747 and 787 are by far the worst performing for me, but mainly just FPS. I don’t really use any default/Asobo aircraft at this point since the 3rd party planes are far superior IMHO and make default aircraft obsolete for me personally. If you are from Bravo Airspace you did a good job with the 787-8 but unfortunately the base aircraft is just not good.

Live weather/time is on
20GB rolling cache (though have had it off before with no problems)
Multiplayer off
Live traffic off
No world updates installed (because with bad LOD what’s the point?)
ATC voices off (because default ATC is terrible)

Honestly I think that’s about it, I have bing and photogrammetry on, though graphics are poor back to original OP.

I’ve stopped all together. I can’t stand it anymore. It’s an absolute mess. Doesn’t matter if it’s my “S” or “X” console, 4k, 1440, 1080,… 8, 10, 12 bit, HDR on or off, data on or off, offline mode, its a mess, the stuttering, scenery popping in. It’s awful IMO. And I’m not interested in 2024 at all after watching and reading everything I can find online about it. Not interested in the least. I’m using FS2 and FS4 right now and learning to re-appreciate them all over again after all this constant Xbox MSFS debacle. What a mess (sigh) :disappointed:

I must admit, the minimum/recommended PC specs have made quite a jump and I really can’t see how 2024 can be less harsh on hardware, given those specs. Sure, the Xbox is a different platform but they do have commonality.

The specs they consider ‘ideal’ feature the current two second-best GPUs on the market, and the two very top CPUs. That’s not particularly encouraging for either platform.

However, I fail to see how they can release an entirely new sim — specifically designed around the Xbox consoles — that’s going to end up performing worse than the current one. Asobo’s reputation amongst the console community would be irreparably damaged, I think. Perhaps the two versions are a lot less alike this time?

Flying Aircraft with screens is dead in the water on my Xbox S.Thankfully I have a PC.

I tried that route with PC but could never get a happy medium with all the graphics settings thats why i went with the console, one setting (HDR). But with HDR on, it causes stutters so I was no further ahead. I dunno, MSFS is broken right now after SU15 and im not alone on this as you well know from the forums. Im taking a much needed, stressfree break from it. ill come back to it probably in the next year after 2024’s release or there are significant improvments to 2020.

You and other console users have my sympathies.Ive only really been a PC simmer 99% of time. I couldnt image using a console for complex aircraft.I hope 2024 is much better for console users.

As i was saying above. 2024 is off the table for me. Not interested. I like 2020, its less involved and you just get to fly and enjoy the scenery.

I have no problems with PMDG 737 and 777, Learjet 35a, a320 v2, a300, C414, etc. I use keyboard, mouse, and Boeing TCA yoke/quad with no issues either. The occasional crash or studder but not much else.

Ground graphics is the problem. LOD and distance rendering has struggled over past 6 months but was fine at launch.

It can be done in content manager

Yeah same. I dont get any crashes when using Pmdg, however haven’t used it for a while because it certainly has more of a dramatic effect on the outside graphics. since the last update I’m only using the citation to minimise the hit on draw distance rendering.
Flying a lot, lot less though since the F’up of the last update.
I really, really hope (sad we have to be left wondering) that they address the MMS, LOD and draw distance some time soon because not everyone is foaming at the mouth to jump over to mfs2024.

Yeah, you’d assume so but I cannot. The world updates (most) are partially installed and because of that, the only option available when clicked on is to update. ‘Update’ is clicked and it attempts to install a random-sized update but doesn’t actually install anything. There is no delete button (only on the few world updates that are correctly installed)

MS/Asobo are aware of the issue but cannot do anything

I’ve been flying with the Xbox Series S for 4 years. It’s never been like this before. Everything was sharp now I turn the simulator off immediately because it’s unbearable to see these blurred images. What have you done with this simulator? Doesn’t anyone at Asobo Microsoft notice this?

It’s the newly implemented ’memory management system’ which has sucked the visual fidelity out of the sim making it pretty miserable to fly.

That’s strange I have zero world updates installed

I tried to go that route after a fresh install only to find numerous world updates installing themselves without me asking to do so. It happens to be these that the partial install issue pertains to

When that happened to me (and Ive read it has happened to others), the only solution was to delete everything except for your profile for FS20 and reinstall from scratch. Its a pain but I actually found it seemed to improve the way the game ran.

I think driver updates over time have issues with previously created files and the only thing to do is wipe it out and start over completely.

Yeah. I think at this point, given how bad the game can look on XB, I will install 2024 and see how that looks. At least anything I do on that will roll over to when I do get back on PC

So is this visual LOD degredation for us Xbox users ever gonna be fixed…before or after the 2024 release…? Anybody got some Tea to spill…?
