Visual degradation on Xbox

Unless you get fs2024, which seems to solve this problem

For me they went to far by destroying our game on xbox . FS is now over for me . No more money spent in this game .

Do not expect miracle with 2024 version on xbox as they try to sell it to us with promotion

Immersion has been completely ruined.

Good bye flight simulator

The other day i was flying off Dubai and believe it or not, for a moment I thought I’m on FSX. Very poor LOD and textures in general. Almost no different than what we had more than 20 years ago.

Can I ask when the game will be restored visually to its former glory on Series X at least?

I’m getting very random results. Flew the other day over SF, and everything including the photogrammetry around gold gate bridge and bay bridge looked so pristine. Flew around Everest and Lukla earlier - blurry textures on mountains, scenery looked as if sewn together in large patches, graphics spawning in front of me in tiles and sections.

We really need a fix now I think, we have waited long enough. Perhaps a good idea to fix the current product rather than expecting people to dish out cash on a new one.

If that is the case, then I won’t be touching FS2020 let alone 2024. Plenty of other games to keep me nicely entertained.

FS20 is an embarassment to the Series X’s capabilities.

I don’t know, they mentioned something with sim update 16 which they then postponed until I don’t know when, probably after msfs2024 comes out. On 2020 I have given up hope, I will use it until 2024 is out, I will give it a try with the games pass to see how it is on series x and from there I will decide whether to give my money or not.

How do we know? There hasn’t been any data or screenshots of MSFS2024 running on Xbox, has there? (I’d like to see it for sure)
And I’ve read in a few places that PCs need 64GB RAM to run it. We don’t have anything like that available on XSX.

And I’m very wary of MSFS QA - the 2020 SU fiasco that has left us in the lurch, a promised update that has been postponed, many stock aircraft broken, third party devs now warning that some of their aircraft may not function as they should in MSFS 2024 , third party scenery add ons even more likely to be a problem…
The list goes on and on - an approach to QA driven by quantity rather than quality means I’ll be a follower to MSFS2024. No intention of moving over to be a beta tester on a new product especially when we know that most often the last thing that ever happens is a thorough test on console.
I’m staying put for now, at least and will only purchase when I’m sure it’s better than what I’ve got now, flaws and all…

I agree
I’m on xbox s, imagine that, at the moment I’m pessimistic
I’m carefully evaluating whether to buy fs2024 and switch to xbox x but to date I haven’t read any test or comments that can guarantee the use of the simulator on xbox and I can’t buy a high-performance PC

The trouble is that FS2020 on Xbox was broken by third party scenery/airports and aircraft. All the shouting and screaming from people who thought that they should be able to land in Flytampa Corfu in the PMDG737 without getting black screens or CTDs is why the LOD got so heavily nerfed. To try to go back to what it was would bring those problems (and complaints) back with it

I’m on Series S too and I’m frustrated with LOD. I’ve already decided that I’m going to subscribe to Gamepass for a few months to test MSFS2024. I consider MS2020 abandoned.

A little humour and sarcasm is always entertaining but did you try what I suggested many posts ago? E.g:

Uninstall everything. Fresh install, base game only. Then install the WUs one by one - Do NOT install world update 18 (the latest Germany/Austria one). Do NOT install the CUs.

Do NOT install any freebies like object libraries, seafront vessels, free challenges or other stuff like German landmarks, UK2000 scenery, etc.

Keep live AI off. reduce the sliders if you like (or not, depends on how good your visuals look).

Now install your third party aircraft. Set rolling cache as high as you want or as low. Depends on your internet and how often you fly complex third aircraft over photogrammetry-bases cities.

You should see much better results. Also remember, third party aircraft will potentiall cause degradation with heavy photogrammetry cities, especially if you have live weather enabled.

Have you not seen what I have reported? Many posts ago, many times? Your work around does not work. I have tried this after all this time and added items back one by one. It’s not us, it’s not our addons. It’s MS/Asobo moving the goal post on LOD/OLOD/TLOD. They have essentially turned off LOD for the sake of “performance.”

Same here, every time I go on the Xbox S for msfs2020 it starts loading then goes to black for a spit second then goes to the Xbox main menu. Before that the avionics are black if it loaded and ground scenery is blurred. In General, it’s a waste of time and so frustrating to go on it.

I’m an older professional pilot now retired. My son and grandchildren gave me the Xbo x/s and MSFS back around the first of the year and it has generally been a joy. After spending 40 years in the cockpit it was welcome even if simulated…However!!!

The issues that have been raised here are all valid and not unreasonable expectations. The graphics have degraded and many of the aggravating “bugs” for lack of a better description are also valid. Some of these I have raised to MS and only received a canned emails that made
various suggestions that had no effect on the problems. These fixes included completely uninstalling MSFS and all extras and third party purchases. I tried this twice, extremely time consuming and aggravating, and also did not correct the problems.

I know you long time Xbox and gamer pilots have acronyms for what I’m describing, so forgive the lack of acumen. The issues that I could not get MS to address are the application, not the console, completely crashing with no apparent pattern to when it would happen. in the middle of a flight, bang shuts down and restarts. Another is black screens in electronic cockpits across all platforms even after rebooting the SIM. I also have noticed the degradation in the quality of graphics although my limited time on the Xbox does not qualify me to make informed observations. It also would be nice if the aircraft you were encountering in flight looked like the actual aircraft and not some generic cardboard imitation/placeholder

And while I’m on my soapbox, If I should be moved to spring for 2024 I hope that it will have provisions for voice comms and VR. These are essential to the full flight experience. If someone has any accurate information about the inclusion of these in the coming release please advise.

Keep the blue side up…most of the time:)

I wonder how many people have gone back to the 2020 version after the disastrous launch of 2024.

How do you guys cope with the visual degradation? Turn stuff off? Adjust the sliders? Not play the game?

Asobo really needs to roll out improvements for the 2020 version.

Since 2024 did not perform at all I went back to FS2020. I do not see many issues, occasionally yes. But not so often it would damage the overall experience. Had a great flight in UK just yesterday.
