…there is visible distortion though. Maybe not as much as is modeled currently, but it is present. I’ve noticed this frequently IRL when sitting aft of the engines on airliners. Sitting near the aft bulkhead on a 737, it’s quite noticeable. It’s also why oftentimes small aerial surveying planes will have their exhaust routed specifically around the camera equipment to visual prevent distortions.
