Like a lot of folks here I fly helos 50% of my time in MSFS and have been looking at buying an expensive collective.
Opted instead to go with a VKB STECS to complement my MCG Gunfighter and very happy I did.
The STECS is incredibly versatile with more than enough buttons and controls, but what made it great for use as a collective is the quick adjust dials to adjust the throttle friction on the fly. I have the STECS dialed in so that the throttle is like butter and handles collective inputs down to hair-like fractions. Very satisfying. Icing on the cake is that my arm/hand rests on the throttle and makes use very comfortable. When I move to planes, I just dial up the friction to feel more like an aircraft throttle. Highly recommended.
