I cannot get this to function at all in the way I see it working in so many tutorials. Pressing VNV Prof just highlights the flight path angle field, this has no effect and just keeps flashing. Pressing VNAV on the Autopilot doesn’t bring up the V path on the flight instruments nor display the glide slope or anything. This all seems non functional. How are people doing this in tutorials? Is there an Add-On being used? Perhaps all the videos I’m watching are for FS2020. Does this function in FS2024?
I’ve had no problem with vnav descent in the 172 in 2024. Can you tell us what you’re doing step by step or even better show us?
I’m approaching a waypoint that has a lower altitude assigned in the flight plan. I’m in Nav mode. Pressing VNV isn’t functioning.
It looks like you need to be within 1 min of your TOD in order for this to function. Maybe that’s what I’m missing.
In a real 172 I always taught students to activate it within 1min of TOD. Make sure you’ve already selected your desired altitude and that the altitude is also what’s programmed into your flight plan for the way point otherwise the G1000 won’t look now when to begin descent
