I’ve been reading the comments and just to be clear, it looks like VA will cover most airplanes ?? I fly TBM/CJ4/Longitude/airliners in VR. FS2crew looks good but it seems to only cover certain airplanes ? Axis & oh’s looks promising but maybe a little more of a learning curve ?? VA will cover all of my aircraft ?? Pulling the trigger soon and just appreciate all the comments. I seem to learn something each post.
I’ve tried most of these with rye exception of MCE so here’s my 2 pennies…
FS2Crew is great for specific airliner SOP’s I use the Fenix version fairly regularly and it’s great. But it has its limitations. It’s fixed around specific add on airliners with particular SOP. It’s inflexible as most airlines vary from the manufacture SOP to some extent.
AAO has recently had some major updates for voice and sound. It’s now possible to use Microsoft’s cognitive speech although this will likely cost depending how much it’s used (Microsoft subscription) it is very good and it’s a not too hard to write the scripts for checklists and so forth. AAO does have everything built in, but it will require a learning curve.
Voiceattack is probably the most complex and has the most flexibility, but it has the steepest learning curve if you want to customise things. However it’s really limitless with what you can achieve with various plugins that are available for it. The voice packs from HCS seem to have stalled with no further progress.
In short, there’s know clear winner unless you prepared to invest a lot of time. My
Suggestion would be AAO as it’s more oriented around MSFS platform. Voice attack will require a few different plugins and voice packs.
Don’t buy HCS, the Capt. Williams can cause stutters on some 3rd party aircraft
Appreciate your 2 pennies. My priorities are as follows:
- Control the AP. Need heading/altitude/speed changes etc. I fly on the Vatsim network and it never fails, you’ll be flying the arrival nicely (via the MCDU/FMC/GTN) and all speeds and alt restrictions are perfect and then come the vectors. "Fly 380, decend to 4000 … fly 330, maintain 300 till established, speed 180 until FAF cleared for the approach. When in VR, I can screw this up quickly with my mouse. I want these changes made via voice.
- Like how the copilot will do the checklist for you.
Will Axis and oh’s do this ??
In short, Yes it will. But it will take time to build the scripts to achieve what you want to do.
On the plus side, there are loads of AAO scripts already on Flightsim.to for various addons and default aircraft that you can import and use
