Volumetric prop effect

This was possible in P3D and I think also FSX. In MSFS I’ve never seen it. The prop spinning effect is completely flat when seen from the side (like the prop is turning with a completely flat pitch). Would be very nice to see this effect added in the sim.

You mean something like this?

It’s entirely possible. The dev just has to do the work.

Yes. Does it change with changing prop pitch?

Not sure - I don’t have it. I do know that it was possible to do that as far back as FS9. Milton Shupe’s final release of his iconic Dash-7 had that feature. But then, Milton was ahead of his time on many things.

hoping to see this too. this is done phenomenally in DCS world, and was also done with several high-quality addons back in XP11. so it should be done in MSFS as its supposed to be the best looking of them all. hoping devs will take notice that this is hugely lacking area of MSFS

This DCS tech looks terrific:

One improvement in 2024 that Seb discussed at the weekend was the true visual simulation of spinning props, rather than the current 2020 method of transparency disks. This should look a lot better, and I would expect this also makes it volumetric. It would be kind of odd to have a true visual spinning simulation and end up with something flat.

I feel the need to check this tonight!

I’ll try a few planes, and record footage if it does. Ah, just read the above so perhaps it doesn’t after all. Onward 2024! :point_right:

ya this has been out for a while, and the animations are fantastic. you can see the prop blur getting fatter or thinner as you manipulate the prop setting. it looks incredible. this is why I was so disappointed in MSFS2020’s aminations as they look so fake compared to this. hoping MSFS2024 will have fixed this glaring issue
