I normally fly the 172 skyhawk (steam gauge) and the GPS will display vor radials and ranges. Last night I switched to the Caravan and I flew to the same VOR that I had just flown in the 172 and the distance and radial didn’t populate. Am I doing something wrong?
Not all VORs have DME
The 2nd 2 : ( VOR/DEM and VORTAC ) have DME - Distance Measuring Equipment)
Also, not all ILS’s have a Glideslope… some are just Localizers.
So why did the 172 show the distance?
There’s a configuration option within the G1000 to display DME distances. You have to manually toggle those on. Otherwise it won’t show DME.
Play around with the menu at the bottom of PFD, the setting is in there somewhere.
What he said … he is one of the smartest ones here …
Hello, do you think its the same for the Garmin 430 in the game?
I don’t see the DME for the DA40 with the steam gauges.
Thanks
The GNS430 doesn’t have a DME integrated IRL, you need a separate gauge for that. GPS distance is considered an acceptable alternate for IFR operations (at least in Canada), so open the NRST page to see how far you are from a VOR (or flight plan page to see how far you are from the runway).
Awesome, I’ll check it out. thanks!
thanks a lot, that is useful info
