Im new to the sim.
Im trying to get into VOR FLIGHT on the xbox.
Could anyone point me to an aircraft that will be good to practise as well as which areas in uk that have more beacons.
Will it possible to use the radio Nav and the Cdi to flight Vor on the Xbox? And how do I set it ?
Yes, absolutely. If you have one, Iād try to use a mouse rather than the Xbox controller.
However, if youāre using the Xbox controller and an analog gauge aircraft, you ālockā onto the OBS control knob by clicking the thumbstick and then use the triggers and/or thumbstick to adjust the CDI/HSI to a desired radial.
If you are using a Garmin-based glass cockpit, the process is similar for manipulating the controls. However, you need to use the CDI key to toggle from GPS to one of the NAV radios depending on the configuration of the aircraft and Garmin type.
Iād recommend using an analog aircraft, since the simplicity of the systems will allow you to remain focused on learning the basics and minimize distraction from all the other features of a glass cockpit that you arenāt using.
Using an aircraft that also has an autopilot will make the learning process easier ā especially on Xbox (if you donāt have actual flight peripherals). You can set the autopilot to NAV and it will fly the radial course you have selected. This will free up your workload to focus on the task of learning the radios, CDI/HSI and how it all comes together to navigate.
A good choice for this might be the Beaver included with the base sim. Use the tablet to switch Avionics > Analog Radios & Dual VOR/CDI
I canāt help you with this, but we have many UK pilots who are active on the forum, so Iām sure someone will chime in here.
Cessna 152. There is a free upgraded version you can download on discord. Otherwise default.
Check out Alpha Hotelās tutorials on youtube for a great getting started flight training on the 152.
Thanks! Iām trying it now.
The CDI are acting by itself. How do I disable it and settings it ip on my own?
I have downloaded the Skyvector and Little nav but unable to find the radio frequencies for the vor.
Anyone know of a good section in the UK for practicing please?
South-East of UK heading east. Start at Shoreham. You also need some NDB bearings. The frequency shows in the map like here SFD Seaford VOR. The ingame VFR Map also has all frequencies.
