VR Distorted view with new hardware and Rift S

hello everyone!
I got my new rig (3090 / 5800x / Gskill 32Gram) + Rift S.
After the new installation, MFS2020 in VR gives me a strange view issue (didn’t have before with GTX970).

Basically when you move your head in game up and down, the world get squeezed/distorted together with the head movement (think of it like a far perspective effect).

I must add that I do not have this effect when playing DCS or oculus home. If i move my head there, the world stays in its spot.

All drivers are updated, but MFS2020 wants to make troubles…
Changing graphic settings doesn’t help.

Also playing with oculus tray tool doesn’t change anything.

My fs2020 runs trough steam, and steam VR is installed.

Any suggestions? I cannot fly, it gives me headache

Have you tried reducing your FOV?

no I didn’t, Rift S has already a tiny one, why should I?

I am wondering about one thing, when i run MFS2020, Steam VR is starting, oculus tray was already open and oculus itself also has some runtime system.

how do i know which one is the active runtime one? I am afraid there is some overlapping between apps

Try turning off reprojection

So. You are so smart! Can you tell us, how to turn OFF reprojection in Oculus Rift S?

Can you tell us how it to turn it off instead link posting?

guys… i am not new to VR.
what i am talking about is not the classic reprojection distorsions between frames, I don’t have issue with that.
It makes no difference if I set ASW = 0.

There is some issue with the whole VR view getting squeezed when moving the head up and down.
here a representation of the issue:

A “square” (picture 1) in game would look like (picture 2) when looking up or down or vice versa.
This does not happen with other games such as DCS

That’s very ungrateful of you mixMugz.

you can do that with Oculus tray tool, open it and set AWS / reprojection to = 0.
Unfortuntly this is not a good thing unless you have 2x 3090 in your pc

I have finally solved the issue by myself.

Installing Steam VR, the OpenXR runtime switched from Oculus to Steam VR (which sucks).

This gave me as a result a very deformed view when playing MFS2020.

The solution is to change the runtime through the Register:

Open “run” and digit “regedit”

go to:
Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Khronos\OpenXR\1

Here you can replace the string
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\SteamVR

to

C:\Program Files\Oculus\Support\oculus-runtime\oculus_openxr_64.json

Hopefully it might help someone from being crazy.
