VR Performance better than 2D 4K

I’ve finally fixed the constant crashes to desktop in VR by feeding more voltage to my CPU and RAM. It’s been great to fly without crashing to desktop every flight. Running on 10900K with 6800XT, performance (70 in OXR/100TAA) in VR (Reverb G2) has been butter smooth with 40-45fps outside big cities with no stutters. What’s puzzling is my VR fps is about the same as my 2D in 4K resolution. Most of my settings are ultra/high.

I am aware of the bug in Sim Update 3 that tanks performance in certain areas. I used to have no problem hitting 50-60fps in 2D, but am surprised my VR performance is now exceeding the 2D performance. Anyone else getting better performance in VR than in pancake mode?

Close WMR when in 2d and you’ll get another 20 or so fps in fs2020. My 2d performance also suffers like that when i Alt+Tab out of VR unless i close WMR then it jumps back up to 60ish.

You are absolutely right. I forgot that G2 uses about 20-25% of power and performance by simply being active in WMR. Did the same flight with WMR shut down and was able to do 60fps with a few places where the fps dropped to 25fps (SU3 bug).

This begs the question. How many people forget to deactivate WMR and play games in 2D? This will cause about 25% of FPS loss simply by having G2 plugged in and active. I’ve been wondering why G2 takes up such high GPU utilization?
