Hello all,
Im new and hoping this is the right area. Please chime in if there is a better place. Reddit sent me here for specific VR help.
I use Virtual Desktop with Openxr and i get an almost smooth 30fps and the clearity is rather amazing. I have everything set pretty high for my Meta Quest 3 (3200x3400 per eye). But no matter what i do my fps is around 30fps. From godlike settings to medium the only thing that changes is the clearity. I use to tool kit in game and the VD setting in the app.
Am i seeminy missing some big part here? Many youtubers claim 90fps which im finding rather hard to understand how.
I have
4070ti
13700k
32gb ram
Quest 3 (link cable or wifi)
PC connected ethernet with wifi6 router.

There is no PC H/W in existence allowing 90FPS in MSFS in VR, unless you go for some crazy low settings in MSFS and super low resolution.
With 4070Ti your FPS results are pretty god. You may go up with FPS on the expense of resolution/settings.
I use a Quest2.
My PC:
11700K
32gb
RTX 4070 ti Super
I connect through Virtual Desktop and wifi6.
I get 90fps with my settings.
The first thing to try is to make sure that the Virtual Streamer codec is set to HEVC 10 Bit and the OpenXR Runtime is set to VDXR and automatic bitrate adjust.
I have been using AV1 as i jave the quest 3 and was told thats the one to use for the Q3. Should I change it? I also alwaya have VD running VDXR
Hi,
Welcome to the forums. Out of curiosity does your fps go above 30 if you fly in a remote location?
Regardless, there are a few things you can consider temporarily trying via MSFS settings if you might be CPU limited:
- disable multiplayer
- disable real time air traffic (under data settings)
- disable any live traffic (including real-time and ai offline). Be sure to do this under VR in traffic settings.
- reduce number of boats, ferries, workers, static aircraft etc under traffic settings.
- change your TLOD and OLOD under graphics settings for VR to 75.
I realise that none of these settings are ideal, however, they’re only temporary. MSFS is often CPU limited and the above settings affect your CPU. If changing these improves your fps, thwn it’s just a matter of tweaking these to find the perfect fit.
Cheers,
Thank you very much. Ill tinker with these tomorrow
My PC is:
14700K
RTX 4700
64GB RAM
I’m running at the max resolution the quest 3 software provides.
and I only get high fps (above 45) when running DLSS Quality or lower. In more remote areas it easily stays above 72fps. With TAA in congested areas I get around 30fps, and that’s a comfortable level when using ASW.
So maybe give the DLSS settings a shot if you want to hit high fps numbers.
