VR settings that work for me - Reverb G2, RTX 2080Ti, R3900x

thx a lot ! Yes I know nearly all measures available, and have seen all videos to improve FPS. I have also set those Reg-Values to reduce Displays. I got it playable or better - flyable in the meantime. There was no problem with small airliners, I got nearly everything on high, clouds on ultra (looks amazing in VR) and all on middle for A320. The A320 gives still stutters with my i9 32 GB 3080 and the 456.71 driver .. but reading the Nvidia forums up and down, they are aware of it, but announced the they won’t fix it with the January update and that time root checking it..
We will see!

what was the exact title of FLIGHT SIM GUY’s video, i will find it that way. thanks!

With that hardware you can easily go to 100% ingame render resolution and oxr 100% resolution for about 35fps with a little tweaking of medium settings. Just go a little up where you like it, go down with things you dont need urgently (maybe post effects as light shafts and so on). I got smooth 25fps-27fps with my poor 2080ti with 100/100/medium/452.06.

100% ingame resolution with TAA gives me the best result. You can improve your experience with the G2 by blinding the tracking cams (by the loss off lean forward/backward). The gyro in the G2 only tracks up/down and left/right movement. If you feel uncomfortable with that loss (as I do) try to stabilze the tracking of the headset with a cheap white led strip laid in U-form around yourself. The tracking of the G2 is really not good at all with uniform lightig. The LEDs helps to hold tracking much better and prevents jitter and position jumps in the cockpit here. But the most stable image is given with cams blinded.

i have the latest nvidia drivers that has common shutters on 3090 cards. You should do a YouTube video about the tracking trick to understand better. i will try 100 TAA 100 with medium settings

Check your messages linenorc, I’ve left details to the video there.

ok, thanks orionsoul, i will look now

Why would you do Hardware Acceleration off and Game Mode off? In a VR guide on this very forum, they recommend to have both ON, which kind of makes sense to me, since Hardware Acceleration reduces latency. It is the same reason this is ON that we also enable Low Latency on the Nvidia Driver level for. We want as little latency as possible. Also, When Game Mode is on in windows, it tunes the windows processes and gives priority to the game that is being ran. I believe Razer Cortex does the same.

Depends which ā€œother post on the forumā€ you refer to.
Both game mode and hardware acceleration introduce a lot of stutters. I would encourage you to test it yourself.

This worked really well for me OP. So thank you! I wish I could get the clarity up more, but using these settings was unbelievably better!

What a different experience it is with VR!

Does anybody know, what the OpenXR Developer Tools does, when you leave Custom Render Scale unchecked? Does it (auto)select its own render scale based on FPS, or what? I agree with the OP, that everything under TAA 100 in A320NX at least is very blurry and badly readable. I get best results with TAA100 and SS unchecked (reprojection off) on 5800X with 2080 Super. Maybe a bit of stuttering at heavy loaded airports.

Greetings, Alex

Best for me (setup 5800x + 2070 (not super) + FS Steam version + Reverb G2) now is the latest Nvidia Driver and using SteamXR (not WMR). I got 34 fps with 100% render scale (in steam and fs2020) and a mix of high / medium settings.

Second best was Nvidia 457.30 and WMR-XR.

The 457.30 did not work with steamXR and the latest did not work with WMR-XR

Do you mean the latest HOTFIX .33 driver?

I’ve had a lot of bother in VR with HAGS turned on… some games were fine and others were a mess. By all means try it because chances are it’ll vary between different setups but if you experience issues in particular games keep in mind that you may wish to try turning it off again.

No, I think its the .06 version. Thats the latest for 20series

Edit: Its 461.09 sorry

What is HAGS?

Has anyone ever tried to change Power Management settings in Windows 10? I just did and setup Ultimate Performance. It did not make my PC faster but it seems to have made it snappier in executing task. Loading time are much faster. I had a blast flying from South of France from where the F1 GP is hosted (download this amazing scenery - simMarket: LE CASTELLET LFMQ MSFS) to Courchevel a sky resort featured in one of the landing challenges. This was epic and with the following settings and spec, everything was buttery smooth and pretty:
i910900K @ 5Ghz
3090 FE with latest Nvidia drivers
Reverb G2
NVCP settings VR Virtual reality pre-rendered frames to 3
Windows 10 Power Management to Ultimate Performance
TAA 100% in MSFS 2020 with most settings in ultra or high including tree, clouds and object scale at 170
OXR @90%
I have tried multiple flights in busy airports or scenery like Courchevel (pretty mountains and houses) or Tokyo. I had smooth flights and until triple monitors support is launched, I am not going back to 2D.

I have 3800x+1080ti+Reverb G1 VR. I noticed yesterday that volumetric clouds medium → ultra was good change, you should try it too. I have render scaling 60.

Maybe high could be fine too. I must do experiments

These settings work pretty well for me, but I have a question: when I move my head rapidly left and right, it is quite smooth. But when I keep my head straight, and bank the aircraft rapidly, it is very stuttery. Why would that be, in both cases the scenery displayed changes rapidly, why is only the banking stuttery? Any help would be appreciated…
