It’s worse than washed out. I’m really hopeful I can start from scratch and find something that will make a big jump. Then I can tweak it further but it cannot be set up correctly now. I guess there is nowhere to go but up !!!
Starting from scratch, should I invest in virtual desktop or continue with link cable ??
I have the link cable (the official one) and have never had an issue with it. Never used VD or air link, so I can’t really say. But I like the hardwired connection.
Mine is not the “real” one (Amazon) but my connection test results were … Bandwidth 2.0 gbps on USB 3 so I think I’m good there ???
Make sure you enable the Performance HUD with Oculus Debug Tool so that you can verify that your Link/Airlink connection supports 200 to 400Mbps. Oculus dashboard should be clear before you enable MSFS. Also, the focal length for Quest2 is about 1.5 -2 meters (4 to 6 feet) so make sure your own vision is crystal clear at that range.
A 2 year old utube that shows through the lens comparisons might be useful (start at 1:23). Now with better video cards (I have a 3080ti), along with using very high resolutions (at least 3000x3000 as measured inside MSFS with TAA) and using 150% upscaling (OXRTK or equiv) as well - plus DLSS-Quality or TAA gives results better than this utube video for G2 even with the Quest2.

There is Virtual Desktop which does all this much better than Oculus, so yes it is paid, but twice as good in rendering.
I did like you, I used all the possible settings under debug tool, with open XR, without etc…
But when I came across Virtual it no longer has anything to do with it, I doubled my Fps, my sharpness and clarity and without any comparison under Quest 2.
