Wait until casuals wreck their first 2024 career mode airplane (details and spoilers)

Seems they could have designed the career mode to be more forgiving, particularily since they have a lot of bugs that would cause you to lose your plane. I have a PPL in real life, so I’m not really worried about crashing a 172 if there are no bugs… However, I’ve seen enough on the forums that it seems it’s just a matter of time before I hit a bug that causes me to lose my plane.

For example 53knots crosswind at 2000ft in C172. I hope people in France are okay since its live weather.

Same experience. The 172 is totally unusable in career mode in Europe right now

What kind of mission are you on and is it affecting your displayed groundspeed readout and/or the perceived speed over the ground? I have a theory it’s not affecting certain types of missions.

Cargo missions in Europe. Once you unlock IFR the career mode seems to force live weather on you. But that live weather is totally broken in Europe right now. I went from normal winds and as I approached the runway it shot up to a 40 knot cross wind. Multiple airports unfortunately.

Its a real crosswind. It will slam you into the ground, take your money, and insurance pays nothing

Crashed on my first flight because of a bugged runway. now i need to grind out 50k(30k more than I had to save up for the company) despite buying the best insurance. Love this buggy mess of a game

I guess realism to you is when your aircraft spawns in on it’s side against a building

It’s a buggy mess. Yes we want realism. No, this is not it.

Sorry could not read all the post so sorry if this has already been said.

Why not have a difficulty system, perhaps chosen at the start, like Easy to Realistic. It could also be on a per-mission basis so you get more credits for using harder modes.

Just a thought, sPK

Crashed my plane to day, runway was at 9000ft so couldn’t make enhough speed. Luckily the damage wasn’t to bad.
After some more missions I could setup a light cargo company. One mission netted 100k credits.

Bug: refueling your plane via management aircraft doesn’t work, refueled it for 75% and when I started the mission it was at the ‘always the same’ 43%.

The tutorials don’t mention density altitude and that’s a big miss.

Yeah, 30min mission in DHC-2
FL100 and 50kn headwind.
I got to the destination on fumes.

It took so long I just wanted to put the ■■■■■■ bird on the ground, aircraft damage and aviator’s performance be ■■■■■■…

A workaround exists

I feel targeted! :stuck_out_tongue:

So, I’ll update my thoughts: 2/3 of my career mode missions do not complete due to bugs at present. I assume other people are having similar luck.

For example I have learnt that if you are doing a mission at 2300UTC it will fail. Every day. I assume they have a nightly cronjob to drop their cache at this time and adding a where clause to it would be prohibitively expensive, so they just drop the whole thing. I could ask them to move it to a time I am asleep, but I think they just need to not need to drop their caches nighly. :person_shrugging: I also see no point in reporting this because they know they are doing it and they are only doing it because there is no other way of keeping the whole thing from crashing down right now. I also see no point in complaining about it because it will not improve anything. Asobo peoples are aware of it, are working to resolve it, and it will be ready when they finish it.

I am certainly not happy about this, having lost several hours to being caught out by the CET midnight drop. I don’t believe it is “fine” to look for workarounds that manage to give you enough fuel to complete a mission without also making the server fall over. I don’t believe it is “fine” that I suddenly needed to become an expert at landing a C172 in a 50kt crosswind without crashing it and preferably without violating a taxiway. It is not “fine” to exceed max speed with flaps down when your flaps are fully up, or the multitude of other violations the game springs on us. Even beyond the bugs most certifications do not have lessons. Those that do teach you perhaps 1/10th of what they ought to cover.

But, we have what we have today, and we can either use it as it is now, helping each other find ways of making it a little more bearable, or we can walk away from what is very obviously an early beta-test by another name, and come back in 6-18 months to something that is closer to what could be expected from a finished product.

For now I am staying here because I find it fun and challenging. I also don’t think people who find it frustrating should keep on doing this to themselves if they don’t find it fun - life is short, go do literally anything else, preferably something that brings you joy and not frustration.

I haven’t tried it yet, but apparently the trick for great ratings is to just constantly contact ATC, request flight following, and then cancel it over and over again. Then it doesn’t really matter what you do, crash your plane, take off down the runway backwards, whatever you like .. you’ll still get S rating for all your amazing ATC interactions.

Is that how those 250% ratings in screenshots happened?

I will test today. If its true, thats ridiculous

I started a company to have AI fly it so I don’t wreck it… it’s in perfect condition and the crew is turned on… 3 days I have not been making passive income…. It’s irritating

did they nerf payout? im only earning 9k instead of 25k like i did a few days ago, for company sight seeing missions

yes, they ninja nerfed the payout due to people abusing the sim rate

This is so backwards. When people are abusing the sim-rate to make money quicker they are telling the developers: this wasn’t fun for me so I skipped it. Asobo should take note of that and think “Ah, hmm .. okay what would make this more engaging?”. Maybe the missions aren’t very interesting or varied, maybe people are trying to skip past the content they don’t want to get to content they do want.

Or perhaps some parts of the sim experience are inherently not that interesting to people. There’s probably a lot of people who don’t enjoy just being sat on autopilot twiddling their thumbs. Maybe the right answer is to let people use the “skip ahead” feature without penalty.

But it seems Asobo has decided: no you have to grind. You might not think this is fun, but if you want to play the career we’re going to make you do it anyway. This is counter-productive: if the career isn’t fun for a little bit people will grind through the boring bits. If as a result you make the boring bits longer they will eventually just stop playing alltogether. For multiplayer games sometimes grind can be a necessary evil to preserve balance. However, this is singleplayer game, monotonous grind is never a good feature in a singleplayer game.
