Wait until casuals wreck their first 2024 career mode airplane (details and spoilers)

Is that how those 250% ratings in screenshots happened?

I will test today. If its true, thats ridiculous

I started a company to have AI fly it so I donā€™t wreck itā€¦ itā€™s in perfect condition and the crew is turned onā€¦ 3 days I have not been making passive incomeā€¦. Itā€™s irritating

did they nerf payout? im only earning 9k instead of 25k like i did a few days ago, for company sight seeing missions

yes, they ninja nerfed the payout due to people abusing the sim rate

This is so backwards. When people are abusing the sim-rate to make money quicker they are telling the developers: this wasnā€™t fun for me so I skipped it. Asobo should take note of that and think ā€œAh, hmm ā€¦ okay what would make this more engaging?ā€. Maybe the missions arenā€™t very interesting or varied, maybe people are trying to skip past the content they donā€™t want to get to content they do want.

Or perhaps some parts of the sim experience are inherently not that interesting to people. Thereā€™s probably a lot of people who donā€™t enjoy just being sat on autopilot twiddling their thumbs. Maybe the right answer is to let people use the ā€œskip aheadā€ feature without penalty.

But it seems Asobo has decided: no you have to grind. You might not think this is fun, but if you want to play the career weā€™re going to make you do it anyway. This is counter-productive: if the career isnā€™t fun for a little bit people will grind through the boring bits. If as a result you make the boring bits longer they will eventually just stop playing alltogether. For multiplayer games sometimes grind can be a necessary evil to preserve balance. However, this is singleplayer game, monotonous grind is never a good feature in a singleplayer game.

To be fair to asobo, I think people would use sim rate no matter what to get through the cruise part of flights around boring terrain.

I agree with the sentiment of your comment however that they made it too grindy for essentially no reason. Iā€™m personally convinced they will sell credits or boosters later. Itā€™s the only way the design makes any sense to me.

Unfortunately I fear you could be right. Using the grind as a way to upsell ā€œboostersā€ or whatever is sadly a time-honoured tradition in games development.

I worry Asobo has forgotten what the career is for. Fundamentally MSFS is just flying, that is the game. However, you have so much choice on where and what to fly it can be overwhelming. Iā€™ve always used careers in flight sims to effectively give me suggestions on where to fly to next, letting me explore places I otherwise wouldnā€™t have. You also get to do some fun role play along the way, develop some skills you maybe wouldnā€™t have developed naturally, and create a sense of progression. The point of a career is not to force people to fly monotonous missions over and over just for the sake of it: in my view that is very much putting the cart before the horse.

This. Keep missions to a 60-90 minute average.

Three and a half hours in a Caravan? Not going to do it.

Sure, have options for longer missions - there will be people who want to simulate a 13 hour flight. But reduce the minimum time.

I found the price in the world map are nerfed but the rewards are not. I just did a mission that said 7,800cr to complete but when I did it with, it gave me 85,000Cr

At least you are getting passive incomeā€¦ I have 3 C172ā€™s in different regions in my first company and cannot get any passive incomeā€¦ canā€™t figure out how to do it.

I actually donā€™t think the sim rate is an abuse at all.

Skipping is very different IMO.

when you use sim rate, you still have to complete the entire flight, all procedures, follow ATC etcā€¦

you are just accelerating the portions of the flight that are not really adding anything to ā€œyourā€ experience.

If you really want to differentiate the people who do and donā€™t sim rate the flight, on top of the no skip bonus, have a minutes flown bonus where you receive 50cr (<whatever) per minute of ā€œactualā€ time spent playing.

Removing sim rate option for career would kill it for me.

Iā€™ve been flying for 45 yearsā€¦ I donā€™ t need to simulate 4 hours of flight over Saskatchewan on autopilotā€¦ Nor do I want to hand fly that route. I want to fly the Departure and Arrival and simulate the procedures in aircraft Iā€™d never otherwise get to operate.

To each their own, but solutions should always accommodate as many play styles as possible.

Getting rid of Sim Rate would kill Career mode for many Iā€™d presume.

LOL, lots of us have PPLā€™s

Try flying a c172 in a 70kt crosswind because no METAR data was available pre flight.

Donā€™t do your IFR and youā€™ll be fine. Once youā€™ve done your Instrument rating they add tornado winds to every mission.

Without IFR, you canā€™t advance past a certain point of for instance Medium cargo, but there is still lots to do while waiting for a bug fix.

Are there bugs?.. yup, but some are frustrating, others can easily be worked around (e.g you donā€™t have to follow taxi instructions to the tee, or flight paths, just follow airport procedures and youā€™ll be fine, I fly with all of these off and get full marks all the time)

have fun, it will get better.

Plus, getting a perfect score with these challenges is kind of a mini game in itselfā€¦ I havenā€™t got one yet.

Half of my flights are 99/100/99/100ā€¦ always getting 1% off ensure cargo integrity and respect condition no matter how soft I butter her.

Wish there was a detailed chart of all the metrics and where and what you were reduced forā€¦

Hey MSā€¦ go buy tacView please.

The rest are reduced Aviator performane or Ariline procedures because of something that I either donā€™t know or something that is buggy.

Thatā€™s pretty respectable score. I havenā€™t had any extreme weather yet. I did have a 44kt wind at about 6000 ft but thatā€™s actually not unrealistic.

Iā€™m mangaging to find my way around the bugs for the most part. I did hit the bug on the 737 Charter - VIP mission and am not able to complete it, so I canā€™t unlock those specialties, which I really wanted to do.

Iā€™m focused on Vision Jet missions, unlocking new territory, and buying enough planes that my passive income means I can fly any mission and still be saving for the bigger planes. A Vision jet in North America, Asia and Europe. I find the missions the most interesting but they are more rare.

One time I didnā€™t get passive income I was playing at 00:00 UTC. Thatā€™s the time the payouts go out. Itā€™s supposed to pay you when you exit and come back but it didnā€™t for me. So, I have a theory that there is a bug that if you are playing at that time you donā€™t get passive income.

hmmmmā€¦ thats interesting because I happened to be playing at exactly that time when having my first night with passive incomeā€¦ not a usual time for me so it should be fine but thanks for sharing.

I have 3 x 172s and havenā€™t seen any passive yet.

After I landed succesfully, and taxi to hold did I press Alt+N to skip taxi. This placed plane inside hangar and crashed it. My premium insurance payout was also bugged I got around 30k while a full repair would cost around 170k.

Back to regular missions for me.

NEVER skip after landing with your own plane ā€¦

Sounds pretty accurate with real life and the ridiculous prices of planes these days.

44 hours of playtime just trashedā€¦ Was flying career, just trying to grind some money, was at the end of the my flight, Alt N to skip to approach and it puts me 10 yards away from a mountain in my face. Didnt even have the time to react directly after the load and crashed. Game then not only makes me crash, but the insurance bugged and didnt pay me anything. Now I have $200k ish in repairs and 10k in the bank. I actually rage quit a game for the first time ever. Not okay to be punished this hard for the game screwing upā€¦ I feel like I just totally wasted all my time and will never get it back. Great way to make your player base feel.

I just want to say that sometimes it is extremely depressing being correct. I do feel bad for all of you that have effectively bricked your career modes, outside of spending an unrealistic amount of time in regular missions.

It stinks the game is like this and for your sakes I hope it gets better.
