For me it was! But you will probably want to get a new video card after getting it.
I’m actually thinking of trading my original Crystal for a Light. The batteries are a pain. Same for the Quest 3 actually. Batteries add a level of complexity that can be annoying for PCVR.
You could even try out both and see what you prefer. I hate returning things but with VR, you never know until you experience the actual device firsthand.
Really? Fresnel lenses in a Q3? That’s a horrible travesty! That’s like going back in time 5 to 10 years. An HP Reverb would be a way better choice.
Just read this now, that could be another tick in favor of the Pimax. Having a wired connection to the PC is needed but going between floors for that link. 
If you manage to get a good Crystal Light it’s probably a good option for flight sims. There still is an issue with the QC on their current lens imho. I returned mine for a refund last month because they had way too much distortion and I wasn’t prepared to enter the PCL lens replacement lottery.
If you really want to do wireless PCVR (Virtual Desktop or Air Link) then a Q3 with a dedicated wifi6 router connected to your PC may be a good option. Just do a bit of google research on how to set this up. The Virtual Desktop discord channel has a lot of good info about this. Go to the VD website to find out more.
Another very good option imho is to use a Q3 with a Link cable. I actually find I get a bit better results using this, compared to VD (better distance clarity and lower latency).
Like everything PCVR, your results may vary depending on your PC specs and settings. I did an overview of what settings I use with both my Q3 and QPro using Link (and Air Link). These continue to work well for me.
What I mean is the PC is connected to the router via a 20M long ethernet cable so my PC is not on wifi but hard wired internet connection. The PC tower is right next to me at my desk where I do my simming if that makes sense.
Just trying to do a bit more research on this option. The approved fibre optic cables are about £80 but seems to be much cheaper ones on Amazon, I’m guessing these are not much good though? Think you can get a link cable that charges battery at the same time.
I think If I go for a VR headset it may need to be the quest 3 as the pimax light is a bit over budget for what santa is looking to spend 
Sorry for all the questions but just trying to work out if its something I would really enjoy using for the best part of £500 or just something I would end up getting frustrated with & not using. At moment I use the Tobii 5 head tracker on my 4K monitor so I’d be hoping for better immersion with the VR headset.
There are less expensive Link cables on Amazon, including ones that use your Q3 charger to help keep your headset battery at +80% charge. I used to use the kuject cable with my Q2 connected to one of my usb3.1 type-A ports and it worked well. When you go through the Link setup you can do a usb speed test to see how well it performs. Anything above 2Gbps works fine.
Maybe have a look on Amazon reviews on their link cables from Q3 users and maybe try one that gets good reviews. If you buy it from Amazon it’s easy to return for a refund if it doesn’t work well for you.
That’s a big plus. I remember just tweaking the headset and running out of battery before I could sim.
For some reason I never had good luck with Link cables on multiple systems. It may have been either AMD or Windows 11.
Usually, we are perpetually frustrated but keep using VR. 
Thats how they made the 3S cheap. Not to be confused with the 3 which has fantastic pancake lenses
Thanks for advice and help. Going for the quest 3 along with a link cable from INIU with charging port.
Will have to see how comfortable the headset is as I’ve read that it is not the most comfortable and upgrading the face pad may be necessary.
Now this may be a daft question but when you fly in VR is the pc monitor also displaying the sim too as it normally does? Or do just leave the pc monitor switched off?

I’d recommend getting the Q3 Elite Strap (not the battery one). Much more comfortable than the stock strap one and you don’t need the Q3 Elite battery strap if you are mainly just going to play PCVR.
I do have the Q3 Elite battery strap and it is a bit nicer for longer runtimes with standalone games, plus it does balance the headset a tiny bit better. For PCVR with a link cable you don’t get any benefit and need to disconnect the strap battery in order to use the link cable.
The VR display on your PC screen depends on what game you’re playing. For MSFS2020/2024 you’ll see a split right/left eye view. No big deal imho. Hope this helps mate and cheers.
The upgraded quest straps are nice. I consider it a must have. Just about any headset requires some work for comfort. Both the Pro and 3 gave me a nasty headache on my forehead out the box.
On my Pimax Crystal I have a thick cross strap that takes a tremendous strain off my face. But the Crystal is also comically beyond enormous.

What will be the best software to run the Q3? Virtual desktop or are there others ?
If you want to use the link cable, simply use the officia Meta desktop software. VD is for Wifi streaming.
And hopefully the link cable works for you! I just always had a terrible time with it. Not everyone does.
Just wondering are there any YouTube tutorials you guys can recommend for setting up the quest 3 to MSFS from out of the box?
I’ve seen plenty of vids about tweaking settings but not seen any from switching on out of the box and making it connect to MSFS. Or does it connect automatically and MSFS will know a VR headset is connected?

To me there just seems to be too many apps to connect one device(quest 3) to a PC and I’m confused as to what and what shouldn’t be installed.
I don’t want to fill my PC up with apps and programs I don’t need.
Also confused as to where these apps are downloaded and installed to, the PC or the quest 3?
It’s a bit frustrating as I really want to use the sim in VR but it really does look more trouble than it’s worth and I’m concerned about getting in a mess with it which as for me isn’t hard to do 
Simply start by installing the Quest Link software on your PC. That should be all you need to get started.
Don’t worry about anything else at the beginning.
Link your headset to your PC following the instructions and you’re ready to enjoy MSFS in VR.
