Water edge reflections following head movement

Anyone noticed water reflections are a bit.. XP11? Where they get distorted when you move your head.

Just did San Francisco discovery flight (which looked pretty amazing and ran pretty smooth) but water reflections were bouncing around when I moved my head..

Yes, they seem VERY strange now. I’ve just flown from Steward south though the valley to check out the float planes and immediately noticed that something’s funky with the reflections on water.

They look less grainy than before, so I think something’s been changed.

Same issue here

I noticed this too but did not realize whats wrong, just wonder that the water looks different. Will have a clooser look at my next flight.

Imho reflections look better, but they are moving what results in very wired effect.

The pixelation/grid pattern they had has gone, which is definitely better

Less grainy looking, but bounce around as turn head

Yes there is something wrong. But I had this issue even before this beta update.
They’re also cut-off by any edge (ie the edge of the pilot window will weirdly cut-off water reflections before the edge itself, like there is a layer issue, it’s hard to explain).

EDIT: My bad, the issue is worse than before so it’s not the same.

exact same thing here. it was always there - people probably notice it more now because of the float planes (which may be a reasone to find a fix for this)

I get it too. Doesn’t look good. Looks like the reflections are being rendered twice.

I didn’t notice this with reflections yet, however I’ve noticed the cone lights are following head movement.

For example at night, viewing the aircraft from outside, landing lights on. Moving the head makes the light following the direction of the head, until they revert back to were they should.

This sounds to me like the pixel shader uniforms are not updating as fast as the head and there is therefore a delay before they catch up.

Do you mean that you see some kind of ghosting that slowly fade out? Because I do see that as well. And about the reflections jumping around when moving the head, I can confirm that it is not the same issue as before. It’s much worse now.

Maybe raytracing and DX12 will solve this.

I want this topic to get more attention - the reflection effect in VR is pretty bad (in both beta versions so far). I appreciate that the reflections are far less blocky than they were in SU4, but this swelling/movement of the reflections with any head movement in VR is pretty hard to look at. I tried my best to capture it here in this screen recording of the WMR portal… I know… VR videos are never good..but I think you can see what I mean when I say “swelling” of the reflections…

Yeah you can see them bouncing up and down on the shoreline ahead of you. Up and down head movement has the most impact.

Really reminds me of XP11 VR water reflections.

This is still evident in the updated release. Might be affecting performance as it still seems reflections are being rendered twice (bouncing and stationary). Haven’t had enough time to see if VR FPS have improved, but other aspects seem much better.

This issue + the horrible clouds reflections in the water make a flight above water something quite challenging visually. I literally lose my sense of orientation.

Voting up. This is still a problem in the updated beta. Building reflections in water move around with VR head movement; it can easily be seen taking off from London City airport and flying over the Thames.

quick update: I don’t see the problem with the lights with 1.18.9 anymore, on the few aircraft I’ve tested.
