Wonder if there is any way of having water effects, high or medium waves without the nauseating effects of the wind gusts in VR ?
The waves on the water are created by wind, even in Flight Simulator. No wind, no waves. There is no other possibility (or I don’t know it).
If you fly over the water park in Torremolinos they have a wave machine there that’s quite effective. May be an option for you.
I do feel there should atleast be small waves most of the time, more so on oceans because of tides.
Ocean swell gives waves when there is no wind locally. Wind wave and swell wave height and direction are basic parameters from a coupled atmosphere/ocean model. Maybe they’ll get built in later?
Bottom line is …the water looks flat as a pancake, very boring indeed. The use of wind and turbulence current effects in VR is inducing nausea…at leas for me …and I am an avid and experienced VR fan since DK2.
If the water looks too flat, then you are not flying low enough.
just add like 5 knots of wind or so. That should give you enough waves while not being too gusty.
It would be nice the devs gave us a setting to decouple wind and wave parameters.
Also it would be nice to decouple sundown/sunset from always showing an orange sky. It get’s a bit boring. More variation is needed.
“Freak waves” in small ponds is an issue too.
Hurrah…finally one person totally agrees
I also think the physics should be separated. Oceans and Seas are always active due to currents, warm streams and wind. Even when there is no wind there always will be waves. I’d vote for this
