Wavy Runways, and some (LOWI for instance) even have grass on them

Not sure what is going on, but it seems that recently all my tarmac runways, and other things now conform to the ground undulations, making them go up and down all over the place ??

Makes it really hard to perform a 1/2 decent landing, as the runway distance form my wheels varies wildly with the ground undulations.

Does anyone else have this, or am I alone ?

I took quite a few pictures, getting ready to log a ticket, at one location that was like this. I think it was SVMI. Pretty much the whol of the ramp, and all the taxiways I traversed, had that undulating effect. But the runway I was on was fine. It would have been immediately obvious if it was not, as while taxiing over a certain speed it would be enough to cause the front wheel to bounce, and I hear the tire squeal. That never happened on takeoff.

I don’t remember seeing that at LOWI, but the best thing you can do is document everything. Take pictures, where there are inaccuracies compare these to satellite photography etc, and log it in Zendesk.

If you are have turned on Dev Mode in settings, go to the Options tab in flight mode, and make sure that “Detail Maps” is not checked. Checking that causes exactly the problems you describe. This was driving me nuts, too. Hope this helps.

Is this the default LOWI or do you have a third party airport installed?

I proposed a solution for the OP to try, which fixed the problem for me. It was happening with EVERY airport, including the default LOWI and the ORBX version. Turning off the Detailed Map setting in Dev mode fixed it for ALL the airports. It is a Dev mode setting that literally causes grass to sprout all over the tarmac. Weird.

Well Done Sir, you cracked it for me !!!"!!

I had been playing with the settings, and forgot what I had done as I did not notice it for a while after that…

Many thanks indeed, it was driving me nuts…

Indeed sir, and you were dead right - THANK YOU SO MUCH

I was tearing my hair out, resetting everything to default settings etc, which lost lost of my special config settings including those used with my (great) Stream decker system that lets me hit a button quickly to do almost anything within the sim by capturing keystrokes.

I will now have to redo all of those as well. But at least I have flat runways so I can actually land, it was a nightmare landing on the rolling versions, as I am sure you experienced as well ?

Why did you turn on Detailed Maps in the first place? I don’t modify any thing other than what’s in the normal settings and I have never had this problem. If something is only available in the developer menu then it’s probably not ready for general use.

I am just inquisitive I guess. I spent ,my later life before retirement developing software, so have some background in software, and was interested in what the developers were offering the beta testers is all ".

Strangely, this problem did not appear immediately, it was around 2 days later for some reason,. Had it immediately given me this problem, I could have changed the setting immediately.

What’s particularly strange is that it happened when I was also at LOWI. I actually bought the ORBX version to see if it would make the problem go away. It didn’t, as I learned the hard way. After several hours of aggravation, I finally ran across some other forum message with the solution.

FYI, MSFS does not have any kind of priority exclusion system built in yet. So if you buy a third party airport and install it, the sim will actually load both the one you purchased and the default one, if it is an enhanced airport. You actually have to remove the Asobo enhanced airport to avoid framerate loss and a weird looking airport.

And you currently can’t do that through the Package Manager yet. You have to delete the package from the Offical folder.
