Way before MSFS, we had this

My first flight sim… (probably dating myself here)

Pretty certain I (or my bro) had an earlier version without a runway although it may have been something else. Fishing line was involved.

I had this too (well, my older brother had it). Also had the “whirlybird”/“vertibird” helicopter thingy for the ultimate helicopter sim  Also had the “Matchbox Steer 'n go” with swappable scenery disks to kick start my driving sim passion.

Oh my, I’d have died for that when I was little.

I had to settle for Merrill C Meigs airport on the original MSFS.

What year was that?

Ah this was the true ancestor of the “game zipline” - used in every adventure game like Tomb Raider for going down somewhere (instead of walking, driving, or everything else).
But no one ever has explained how the characters brake and how to not crash into the tree/wall/wherever the zipline is attached to at the bottom end.

Wow this is awesome haha. I would have loved this as a kid.

EDIT: let’s be honest, I’d love it now

Memories. I remember a Christmas (early 70’s) when I got a cox 2 string controlled plane… finally got it started in the living room and ran out with it to fly… hehe… had that little 2 cycle motor apart dozens of times.

Let me guess… by the time you got outside it had conked out  I remember my brother spent far more time trying to get that bloomin motor started than ever flying the plane…

Yep! It was a mess and pia to start… until you learned. Quit dangerous really. But I did get the hang of it. And the fuel… would slowly eat the plastic skin… and melt!
Good times

I wasn´t even born then lol.

There was a toy called Johnny Astro, which featured a balloon and a joystick guided fan. It was great for landings. Google it and have a smile at late 60s tech for kids. Loved mine until the balloon popped.

Tremendous !!!:+1::+1::+1::+1::+1::+1:

I had the single engine version of this. As I recall, it had a much shorter line. I don’t recall having a yoke either. I’ll have to see if I can google that version. Thanks for the memory!

I had a couple of control lined ones, an all plastic spitfire was the first but then I built a remote controlled balsa model using the same 1cc engine … then I discovered girls and my flying urges lay dormant until finding FSX and Acceleration in a thrift shop for a fiver each.

I edited your post to embed the video. Saves clicking

You mean you can’t just press APR or subcontract the landing to the AI ? Do you know which forum you are posting in??

I’m joking of course. Would have loved this toy as a kid.
