I have asus tuf fx506hcb-hn144 gaming laptop, my drivers are up to date as well. I purchased the sim 1,5 weeks ago via xbox store, thanks to discount coming with gamepass. But I noticed that interior (cockpit) sounds are too low even though I maxed out all sim and system (windows) sounds. But exterior sounds are fine. I don’t want to use ear/headphones to enjoy the interior (cockpit) sounds…
Please see attached files below:
I personally use the communication set to pilot headset it’s called something like that so get experience of pilot with headset on. it’s the first setting on that sound menu in msfs. not sure if that will help though.
Yeah wasn’t sure if it would drown out external sounds more and allow cockpit sounds to come through more. The headset option is just to simulate what the pilot would here with one on.
I just turned down other sounds except for aircraft engines, cockpit and menu music. Still I must be in a quiet place to hear.
Pc volumes are maxed out.
Work it the other way. Leave Master at 100%, reduce all others to 0% then bring each up to suit in cockpit. Adjust Engine last as that is the one that drowns all others.
Check your speaker to be configured correctly. If you have stereo speakers, set them up correctly, if you have 5.1, set them to 5.1. When I built my new PC I plugged in my 5.1 headset and it was configured stereo with the sim outputting 5.1. per system setup.
There is a way to alter the behaviour of internal sounds via the config files of each aircraft. Well, I haven’t actually tried it but it should work.
Inside each aircraft package is a sound folder and inside that is config for how the game should interpret / utilise them. At the top of this config there is a section:
Increasing these numbers should increase the level of the engine sounds. I imagine they are decibel values and 0 (zero) would result in external audio being played at its maximum.
You can either edit these values directly which will require constant editing if updates replace the file or you can create a simple mod package that would replace this file in the games virtual file system. Making a mod package is not without issues either, you’d still want to check them after updates but it’s easier to manage.
