Can’t relate with that as I was busy back then learning to walk and talk haha. I just hope msfs2024 turns this situation around like No man’s sky did.
I will challenge that… and I have tried.
So the Xbox Series S GPU (APU) is something like a nVidia RTX 1650
What is the GPU equivalent of an Xbox Series S?
and the Xbox Series X GPU (APU) is something like A nVidia RTX 3050
What graphics cards are equivalent to the Xbox Series X in 2024? - VideoGamer
Price of the GPU, without anything else (CPU, RAM, HDD, Case, PSU, MB and so on) still is more expensive than the Xbox Series.
Tried this to get close to Series X:
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600 - aprox. 134 €
GPU: Nvidia GTX 1660 Super - aprox. 201 €
RAM: 16GB DDR4 - aprox. 67 €
SSD: 500GB SSD - aprox. 54 €
MB: B450M - aprox. 67 €
PSU: 500W - aprox. 40 €
CASE: Budget - aprox. 40 €
That was the lowest “■■■■” build, and I still blew the budget 603€ vs 536€ in Denmark.
AND I know the Xbox is only a console, the PC is so much more.
I have both!
All devs want to invest in the new platform. The problem is that many are still reluctant to invest money and effort in an unstable platform that doesn’t give them the proper tools and resources to work. One dev even reported that the latest MSFS 2024 update simply wiped out all the progress they had made to bring their addons to MSFS 2024 and they had to start from scratch.
Yes, I know. Some devs have already brought their products to 2024. It doesn’t mean that only they are competent and the rest are a bunch of lazy people. Each addon has its own particularities, perhaps it needs an additional feature that is not currently available in 2024 or because one dev has a different quality standard than the other and prefers to deliver something 100% functional instead of a port still in ‘experimental compatibility’ and not even accepting tickets or complaints as some devs chose to do.
MSFS 2024 needs third-party devs and not the other way around. This ends up being reflected in the user count of MSFS 2020 and MSFS 2024, where the majority still prefer to use 2020 because not only is it more stable but all of their addons work there. iniBuilds recently gave up on the idea of making the A350 exclusive to MSFS 2024 because they would be losing money with a large number of users still in 2020.
Updating the SDK and providing the necessary tools for third-party devs to work is one of the main steps to ensuring the success of MSFS 2024.
Dont mix up working in MSFS2024 and a full conversion for a MSFS24 addon. One is working due to being backwards compatible and one is made only for MSFS24 including all new features.
NOT!!
That’s a myth…
You realize there is a Devsupport forum where the 3rd party devs are logging bugs in the SDK. There are quite a few bugs getting logged.https://devsupport.flightsimulator.com/
I haven’t bought anything for the new sim or FS20 since FS24 came out. And I bought it almost every week. I have a lot of planes and sceneries that I don’t even want to update for free. MS/Asobo and many really good developers have lost me as a customer until MS/Asobo fixes the damage. Many of my friends are in the same situation. I’m afraid that too much damage has already been done and that it will be hard to go back to the previous state. If I go back, it will only be to FS20 because of my love for aviation.
I think these two comments both by very active members in this community sum up the current situation fairly well.
The Launch of 2024 has impacted third party devs big time, I have no doubts about it, MS released a lot of default aircraft and closed the marketplace, for devs that need the income to sustain their lives this must have been quite hard. Is not only that the marketplace is closed the current situation is so strange that people are just not buying things.
PMDG released the 777F and I’m sure they got 0.001% of the sales they got with the 777-300ER why? Because their plans for 2024 are not clear and only a few people are willing to invest in a 2020 only product.
Inibuilds promised the A350 release for 2024 (the year) at least 50 times, they also stated it will be only for 2024 (the sim), now they have pushed the release to Q1 2025 (the year) and it will be for both 2020 and 2024 (the sims), at the same time none of their aircraft are working correctly and they blame MS/Asobo for it.
The Starship by Justflight was announced for “mid November” and then nothing. I’m not blaming Blackbox/Justflight here, they are probably our best devs at this time, but it seems that clearly things are not as easy as they seemed to be.
If as a consumer I’m very worried about the state of this mess I can understand devs must be pulling their hair asking themselves “how do we sell our stuff in the middle of this chaos?” and they need that income to provide for their families.
Whoever thought that releasing the sim in November 19 and then vanishing because of the holidays was going to work really needs a talk.
We are 6 weeks from release and we still don’t know:
- When is the marketplace going to reopen.
- When are the most glaring bugs in 2024 going to be fixed.
- What is the roadmap for the default aircraft if any.
- What is the roadmap for the sim.
- What is going to happen to 2020?
Respectfully, i paid $600 Cdn for my xbox x. You cannot build a better performing pc for $600.
I get there were holidays but essentially 3weeks of silence given the state of everything is very off-putting. possibly 4 weeks if you group in waiting for the next dev stream late Jan
Don’t tease me!
Somebody at some meeting thought that releasing 2024 in Late November to then disappear until mid january was a great idea.
That person needs a very serious review, not only the release date created a mess but they probably also completely killed the best selling months for third-party devs.
And, what about the person who made the further call to launch 2024 without the Marketplace or the ability to download prior purchases? Icing on the cake preventing users from migrating content even if it might have worked.
It’s MICROSOFT Flight Simulator
( Not Asobo Flight Simulator, or Working Title Flight Simulator, or any other sub-contracted company’s name" ) –
so it is Microsoft’s ultimate responsibility for the state of THEIR simulator game.
If Microsoft’s sub-contractors cannot deliver, then Microsoft should be aware of it long before delivery time, and if necessary, put a team of their own project management professionals, to work with their sub-contractors, to prevent the situations we have seen with BOTH 2020 and 2024.
The history of 2020’s development should at least have been sufficient to warrant such actions for 2024.
or not. One has to assume that a Massive Company like Microsoft knows what they are doing, and has professional (very well paid) senior manager that are in control, and are far more aware to what is really happening than anyone in a Gaming Forum, or what anyone is saying in such a public open forum.
What will be will be–- and at the end of the day, as far as MSFS is concerned, personally, it will (should) not make that much difference to me personally, although I do feel for those 3PDs who have spent so much time, working on and supporting MSFS. (myself included as a 3PD)
This is just damage control isn’t it?
I mean many packages are potentially crashing the sim so let’s close the marketplace until we are back from the holidays.
It is really unfair to the devs that took time and effort in making sure things are working.
