As the title says. Everyone being forced to update when every release breaks more than it fixes is just creating way more frustration than we need. I hope some clever modder can figure out a way to turn off/on auto upgrades.
I think it is impossible, since the game is so dependent on cloud services, but I wish it was, updates are destroying the few planes that worked
Better still the patches are tested thoroughly and not released until ânewâ bugs are fixedâŠ
it should be possible, we have seen posts of users where the update did not work for some unknown reason yet they were able to play the game
An entry in the hosts files to redicrect the update server to a fake IP address could be a solution. Just saying
Oh that is great news, I would definetly install such mod
If you think there are issues with the sim now related to all things that connect to live services (photogrammetry, weather, traffic, etc), I would shudder to think of the issues youâd have if your game client didnât match that of the online services it connects to.
Thereâs a reason that any and all online games force updates. Whether you want understand or accept those reasons or not is irrelevant.
I am going to seek further clarification from MS on this issue during the workweek, but I suspect such a mod would violate the EULA/Software Licence Agreement, and I am fairly sure sharing such a mod on the forums would be considered a CoC violation and could even rise to a forum-account ban.
So if anyone does attempt to create such a mod, please donât post it until I can reply to this topic with feedback.

I have no idea if such a mod would be achievable, but it would probably be a bad idea for a few reasons:
-
The potential official reasons (see my post above)
-
The sim may be blocked from using online services (weather, multiplayer, traffic, scenery streaming etc.) due to incompatibility issues
-
The sim may not be blocked from using online services but version conflicts may cause crashes to desktop
-
Assuming you choose to continue reporting bugs to Zendesk, it becomes really painful if QA is having to deal with BRs from a half a dozen sim versions.
I would welcome such a mod right now, this update is the worst so far, personally it gave me nothing but more bugs, I wish I could uninstall it.
Nah, I think we need something that disables all mods after a patch, since those seem to cause the most issues.
If it is there is no hope, because it means the bits of the system are so ridiculously intertwined theyâll never get the bugs out.
They should stop with the graphics, which solves the problem, except for things which cause CTD. The Graphics are pretty good.
The rest of it appears to be built in modules - the numbers that are plonked up when you are downloading stuff are, I presume , internal version numbers of the various components of the system. Some of these will be interconnected (e.g. autopilot, vor and cessna172) but not all of them.
The main link will be between the various code modules that are used in the system and the files defining the responses and operation of the various planes. This is the A32NX problem. They can only work on the latter, so the former stuffs up their work.
I dont seem to be able to load any of the US major cities since the USA update. Los Angeles, New York and Washington all cause CTD or simply freeze the screen. It may be the new level of detail is just too much for my rig. I have medium selected on graphics.Anyone else got this problem. Havent lost any aircraft.
Tbh, this can all be solved with bluntness. During Q and A, the person who asks questions should tell ASOBO that a petition has been signed that we donât want updates until they are tested and work. We donât care about delaying them .
Problem is we have a subset that looks forward to updates that fix nothing and break stuff.
Additionally, when an update breaks something, Asobo should do a systemwide re patch that rolls back everything.
Also, I think they should roll back the Airbus to when it worked best and just leave it alone. Let FBW mod it.
But bluntness Iâd important. I feel the Q@A is staged. We should find someone else to ask questions. She doesnât seem to have the communication skills to get them to answer when they donât want to. Itâs a skill.
Lawyers here?
As consumers we haVe the right.
Hi @Kitty73732747.
We will not be having a Q and A in December, so the next one is in January.
When it roles around, we will open a category for users to post questions. If you can find a way to phrase a question asking for rollbacks and/or user choice around delaying updates, feel free to post it when the time comes.
This will allow other users to show their support for the issue, and if you get enough votes it will increase the chance the question gets asked.
Given the Q and A is managed by Microsoft, and the people involved work for Microsoft/Asobo, do you really think changing the question asker will make a difference? Odds are if your theory about it being staged is correct, then it wonât matter who asks the questions.
With that said, the team is trying to improve the Q and A format. They review feedback left in the official Q and A discussion threads, and we tweaked some of the processes for the November session. If you have suggestions around how we could better improve the format of the Q and A process, please leave feedback in that thread.
Letâs avoid going down that path, this MSFS forums are not a place to seek legal advice. Any posts on these forums that seek to give or provide any legal advice will be removed as being off-topic.
Not to mention that your bug may have been fixed in a release that you declined. Thatâs an easy âSolvedâ for Asobo - the response would simply be âPlease upgrade to the latest version.â
Or better yet, all bug reports from non-current versions are simply ignored with the same upgrade response.
Sure. But this still takes dev/QA time away from bug fixing and development. Someone has to review the BRs including reports that could be created due to a patched bug, and then they have to manually send out âyou need to upgradeâ messages.
I would think that the response could be set up automatically. Outlook can be set up with rules to redirect certain messages based on content, so the BR system should be able to be configured to forward requests from current version users to a human, and all others to an automated reply system before dumping them.
Iâm voting, if we could, for Jane. Go Jane!!
Since the USA update the major cities across the US have become unflyable with the 3 x airliners⊠But even with some of the more unsophisticated prop aircraft if you fly into the cities from outside they eventually succumb and screen will freeze or crash to desktop. I am not sure what they will do about it but it looks like the US is a no go for the time being. Shame really because I felt like system was improving.
This is a terrible idea for reasons already posted. And no, I am in favour of Asobo being able to patch their own aircraft as they see fit. I just hope they test it better and it works.
