Weather completely wrong

Ok thanks for checking also. It’s weird because live weather is enabled. I will try again. I actually did verify to make sure live weather is on

Might be worth checking that the time hasn’t switched maybe to previous day or something and historical weather has kicked in by mistake? I’ve fallen fowl of this

I did change the time of day. But forward, not backward. I set time to today but added an hour to UTC time. Live weather was selected.
I’ll check that again. Thanks for that.

Ahh I think that could be it. I noticed when I tried this yesterday, moving the time forward, whatever time I moved it forward to, let’s say to 12:00z, it actually set the weather for 12:00z the previous day even though I moved time forward.

Not sure if that’s intended behaviour or a bug

Yes if that’s not intended behaviour, I would say moving the time FORWARD and it switching to weather of the PAST is a bug.

Your moving the time slider forward. Since that is in the future, where no METAR exists for: what weather should it be? Just CAVOK? If a time is selected in the future, it half makes sense assuming the user wants that time with historical weather, so from the day before.

I think when I change the time of day, but leave live weather on, it should be live. That is me at least. Microsoft may have a different idea about that

I was able to confirm this now. Everything live in main menu, start the flight, weather is correct. Same airport. Then in the sim while in the cockpit I changed the time a few hours forward, and it was overcast and snowing. More like the weather yesterday. I verified that with yesterday’s METAR. It seems indeed that moving the time into the future injects historic weather.

Your moving the time slider forward. Since that is in the future, where no METAR exists for: what weather should it be?

Good question, I’m not sure what would be best suited, but I think injecting weather from -24 hours when you’ve only moved the time forward by an hour will confuse people, as it did the OP.

It seems indeed that moving the time into the future injects historic weather.

Even before the 2024 release I was worried about the announced 24hr historical weather. Let me make clear, I think this a great feature that many people will use and enjoy, it just requires careful implementation. The time used in the sim needs to be able to be separated from the weather, for example, say its is 1900z and one sets the sim to be at 1200z, one needs the option to be able to keep current live weather i.e. 1900z weather, as well as the option for using the historical i.e. 1200z we…

The only way to have current weather is to use real time right now. There is no way in the sim to get current(!) live weather with non-current real time. The date does not matter either.
