Dear team and fellow pilots (+ in training :-))! I have preset the weather such as wind direction, velocity and altitude. In my particular case I’ve set the winds direction to 230 degrees, 20 knots in 1000 feet and 30 knots in 2000 feet. I dont feel the effect much e.g. change in calculated ground speed or magnetic heading. Will the setting kick in exactly at 1000 or 2000 feet or inbetween also? Lets say I am climbing/descending or fly 200 feet above or below the target altitude (example: 2200 feet). Anybody knows? Thanks a mil!
I have opened a case with Support and here is their response. Need to play around with it over the weekend but wanted to share with everyone as well.
“ There have been multiple reports of similar issues where users have trouble with wind direction and velocity settings in MSFS 2020. Here are a few steps and insights that might help resolve the problem:
-
ATC Enforcement Plan: Try turning off the ATC Enforcement Plan. Go to Options > Assistance options, and under User Experience, turn on the ATC Enforcement Plan. If it is already on, turn it off, apply and save, then turn it back on and apply and save one more time. This ensures that the settings are properly saved

Restart Data Connection Services: Launch Microsoft Flight Simulator, go to Options > General > Data, toggle Online Functionality “OFF” and click on Apply & Save, then toggle Online Functionality “ON” again and click on Apply & Save
-
Disable Online Features: Ensure all online features are disabled to adjust the weather settings. Navigate to Options > General > Data and toggle off Bing Data World Graphics, Photogrammetry, Live Real-World Air Traffic, Live Weather, and Multiplayer

Wind Effects on Flight Path: Wind direction and velocity can significantly affect your flight path. If you set the wind to 330/20 knots at 1000 ft and 340/30 at 2000 ft, the wind at 1500 ft would be somewhere between these values, likely around 335/25 knots. At 2300 ft, it would be closer to 340/30 knots www.avsim.com

Wind Settings Tutorial: There is a detailed tutorial available on YouTube that shows how to control the wind settings in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020. It covers how to set the wind direction, speed, and gusts in the world map and in the game menu, and how to save custom wind presets for different scenarios Advanced Wind Settings in Microsoft Flight Simulator | Tutorial

Wind Shear and Crosswind Effects: Wind shear and crosswind can cause your plane to drift off course. Make sure to adjust your heading to compensate for the wind direction and velocity. This might explain why you are reaching your waypoints when following True Course (TC) instead of Magnetic Heading (MH) Windshear! Windshear! Windshear! - KDCA - MSFS2020”
