Weird graphical artifacts around cockpit at night on AMD RX 9000 Series GPUs

Well the votes went from 147 to 216 so we are getting higher on the list!

Yep, I think there is a real movement of many Nvidia users looking to upgrade and deciding to move over to the 9070XT. Performance and cost being the two key factors.

Moving to a platform having these graphical issues doesn’t sound like a wise move.

If MSFS is the only game ever played that could sway someone, but hedging bets that it will be solved (albeit further away than anyone would like!), and the same price point NVidia isn’t without it’s challenges, the 9000 series is still a solid choice.

Overall the card is great for MSFS. Yes this bug is annoying and yes it’s taking forever to get rectified, but also, whats so great about Nvidia these days?

Sure you dont get this bug and thats fine… but you pay more, drivers have been terrible, they’re just an AI company now and feels like the drivers themselves are just AI-written. To be clear, it’s not like the company publishing this product is any better, look at recent Windows releases. And like said above, they also run team red in devices they slap their name on anyway.

For a solid 9-10 months now the 566.36 nvidia driver has been recommended to folk as the most stable with MSFS 2020. Sure, the last update to 2020 was SU16 in August, but 566.36 pre-dates that by 8 months with numerous releases after that, and 566 was still the most stable… from Dec 2024.

I’m not shilling here, but I looked at the state of that, seeing the abysmal drivers being released (drivers that effected other parts of my system, not just MSFS), seeing the price, seeing the perf charts, seeing where Nvidia is headed (its not for the gamers just fyi) and made my choice to jump ship to AMD. And I think many others did the same, considering the number of votes shot up by 120 in the last couple months.

I switched from rtx 4060ti to rx 9070, a huge increase in performance and comfort, but I was saddened by the situation with artifacts, I dug until 4 a.m. until I found this forum

Is there any new information about when a solution will be possible?:smiling_face_with_tear:

It was planned to be fixed in SU4 I thought but now it is delayed an they are planning to fix it in SU5 but we don’t know if it will be fixed then because the issue was introduced in SU2 so it will probably take some time for them to fix it.

Same issue. 9800X3D + 9070 XT

We are in 37th place, the main thing is not to give up and force them to fix this jamb.

The last update was a month ago. If you look at the screenshot, it still had 147 votes. Let’s hope something changes in the next one, since we’ve already reached 227 votes and could have climbed to 15th place.

I’m also having this exact issue on my 9070 XT.

I hope they fix it soon since this thread is from all the way in April. I didn’t have this issue with 2020.

Same issue 5800x3d 9700xt, almost tempted to put my 3080 back un now SU4 beta is better with vram

Just to add something I found out yesterday. Maybe somebody can test. When using the PAC750 a 2020 Aircraft plus lossless scaling no artifacting visible. I will test later on with another aircraft. Might it be that turning of frame generation ingame and using lossless scaling eliminates the artifacting?

I don’t use FG and tried FSR, DLSS and TAA - all the same. See screenshots above.

Also as a reminder make sure you all voted.

So it’s just weird how the artifacts are affected by the lighting. Check the back edge of the left elevator. It looks fine but watch what happens when I turn on the Nav lights, which don’t even shine on it.

Turning on your flashlight gives you the most artifacts

Same in cockpit with Nav Lights or Strobe.

Is it just me or are these artefacts reduced in the latest SU4 update?
