So I tried out VR, but the projection is all off. If I turn or tilt my head in VR, then the scene moves weirdly, rectangles stop being rectangles, there’s some sort of perspective distortion. It doesn’t feel natural at all, it feels like I’m looking at a world but there’s some maths error that makes perspective look weird. I’m not sure what this can be attributed to, but I haven’t experienced this issue with any other games. All other VR games that I tried look normal, with no perspective distortion.
I’m playing through SteamVR.
Has anyone experienced similar issues? I couldn’t find anything online, so I hope I’m not the only person with this problem!
Yes, the steamVR version of the openxr runtime does this with Oculus devices right now. Change your openXR runtime to Oculus and the problem will be gone. You’ll need to do this by editing a registry key … Search on this forum, there’s a number of posts about setting the reg key to a specific openxr runtime.
Thanks! I installed the OpenXR software and changed the Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Khronos\OpenXR\1\ActiveRuntime registry key from C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\SteamVR\steamxr_win64.json to C:\Program Files\Oculus\Support\oculus-runtime\oculus_openxr_64.json and that fixed it
You didn’t have to install OpenXR at all, as you have an Oculus Headset. Just setting correctly the regedit key will have fixed your problem, and I suggest now to uninstall OpenXR.
