Tbh, I’m not sure this is a bug as much as it is poor implementation. Anyway, the clouds really need some work.

I can’t recall seeing it this weird looking in the past, I looked across my screens prior to 1.5.21 and I don’t think I’ve come across this sort of odd translucent layer.

I’ve seen these before in sim…. I think they are supposed to be Cirrostratus clouds, but very poorly implemented….

Unfortunately I’ve been like this since the new simulator came out… Asobo please take the weather\clouds to heart and fix it gradually with the updates..

I’ve seen this especially often in the latest beta, and especially if I change the time on the slider after loading in. It looks really bad.

These clouds have been around since the beginning of the sim. I only see them on live weather with SCT or above Cirrus clouds. They are some of the crappiest clouds the sim renders.

Moved out from Sim Update 3 Beta | MSFS 2024 > Weather & Live Weather since as mentioned by some users this type of clouds was there prior SU3, so not a regression.

• This screenshot was taken earlier this year, around January. Volumetric clouds was set to “Ultra”.

Yes I’m seeing this too meh1951

I won’t keep on posting about this as I’ve posted it yesterday, but think this Topic better -

Description: wavy unnatural patterns in high level clouds

When: seems to have started around introduction of SU4 for me, cannot say precisely though

Reproduced: when Live Weather chosen & when it’s depicting high-level cloud

Graphics: most settings on Ultra, Volumetric clouds on Ultra

Microsoft Store - pc

I’ve seen it over Arizona near El Paso, & the grabs are over Bogota at 21000ft, 13.04.2026

My card: AMD 9070 XT with current drivers: 26.3.1

There’s a long thread about clouds: https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/5-years-in-and-pretty-much-zero-improvements-to-clouds But as long as “sound stutters in UI” is treated with the same priority as the weather, progress will hardly happen …
