I keep seeing users say the only alternative to bad ATC implementation is third party options. Live ATC is not an option for a lot of us due to the coverage available. The areas I generally fly there are no controllers on any of the live ATC providers.
If a 3rd party can provide a viable AI ATC then why can’t someone like WT rewrite our in sim ATC to do exactly what the 3rd party developer is apparently only capable of. There is absolutely no reason that the default ATC can’t be improved to a very usable level. Probably more likely than a mod due to the integration of the AI and Live traffic.
When we have users very concerned about how well the road traffic is modeled and others that still can’t fly due to CTD issues, and every concern in between, the triage for smaller bugs will continue to keep them at the bottom of the list. Asobo has stated, however, that they are very motivated to get the AI/Live traffic working as it was intended as well as having WT address the GPS systems, the navigation/AP systems and the ATC.
One thing at a time. When the AI/Live traffic is behaving it will be much easier to get the ATC working along with it. Patience. We will get there.
