I don’t think that the sim is a flop. However it has a lot of issues.
Seems like the sim is oriented to sales rather than being a serious sim.
It’s pretty but the performance needs to be improved.
I don’t like seeing the intros when starting up the sim ever single time.
I now have XBOX imprinted on my retinas. Should be a toggle to turn them off.
Is there a version number to display within the sim?
What exactly are you on? I would love to have some
I read your post three times and cannot find one single thing that you are trying to say. As I said before and many people before me there is no reason a person should spend four hours mapping a controller. Even if you have a problem you don’t sit there for four hours and you contact support for the game or for the controller’s manufacturer. If you are claiming you wasted four hours mapping your setup that’s on you.
Try rereading I NEVER said I spent four hours setting anything up…that was someone else, I said the configuration software isn’t working properly for me. what am I on are incinuating I am on something because the software is not working?
A controller? I fired up with a Honeycomb, T-Flight Hotas, xBox controller, and G920 wheel, pedals, and shifter attached. Only thing that doesn’t work was the G920 as the utility for making my clutch and throttle into a single axis won’t install.
Spent time flying and pausing now and then when I wanted to remap a control (ex. I now snap look left/right with the joystick and up/down I mapped for the trim wheel.)
The only single issue I have is the game crashes to desktop when my wireless xBox controller turns off. It won’t stay on if I’m not currently using it to fly the drone and CTD as soon as it turns off.
Ok, so I have something similar. I want to map a control, so I click on the item to be mapped. This takes me to the dialog box with “press key or key combination” at the top. If I click in the top box so it goes grey and press the button I want to map, it registers that fine. However, when I then click validate, it doesn’t store the button mapping. Do get it to do that I need to select the button from the drop down list that is below the “press key or key combination” box. A bit of a pain, but it then works when I press validate.
Also, not all buttons on my controllers (Logitech throttle quadrant) are shown in the picture, but they do exist in the drop down box and are highlighted when I press them after I;ve clicked in the box to make it go grey.
You can see the version number at the top of the window if in windowed mode. If in full screen, hit ALT-ENTER to go to windowed mode and ALT-ENTER to go back to full screen
Not sure what you mean by import controls. My strong advice would be to not use nor even have running any controller software that enables button mapping - this will likely cause potential conflicts. All the mappings you need are within MSFS 2020. It will take a little time to get them set up how you want, but it is worth it. I;m findign that there are many similar controls that look like they do similar things but do them in a different way. For example, some people might have a button they want to press for Gear Down, that they then also press for Gear Up. Others might want to use a switch with a physical toggle for this - i.e. a 2 position switch. The mappings in MSFS 2020 make both of these possible, which I personally think is great.
any chance to backup locally the camera and joystick assignments ? I know it is supposed to be linked to my account on the cloud but would feel better if I could save a kind of camera.cfg file as a backup (considering the hours spent on setting up everything…).
Everything worked great for me. The sim recognized my Thrustmaster HOTAS and I never looked back. The visuals are everything that they were hyped up to be. There is still some work needed on some of the sim functions, as noted by several users. Instant replay function would be nice, for starters. Everyone needs to remember that any new product, built from the ground up will be a work in progress with many updates forthcoming. Those characterizing FS 2020 as a “flop” are crazy. Just my two cents worth…
