8 hours later, still downloading. This is rubbish
To be fair to the “idiots” this will be a lot of people’s first encounter with a flight sim which is a good thing. The mechanism for mapping the controls isn’t the most intuitive if you’ve never had to do something like this before. I think it’s great that a lot of new people will be coming into the hobby because of the new sim. Supporting them while they learn is a much better way to welcome them than ridiculing them for not being familiar with how things work.
Wow, very very cool setup, love it !!
The fact that it took you 4 hours to map your joystick tells me that all of your issues are user issues.
Then have fun flying in google earth
Even I could get my ancient MS Precision Sidewinder 2 joystick to work even though MSFS2020 did not recognize it. A short note in this forum asking for help, 30 minutes later with an answer, 10 minutes on my end and it works great. I have mapped every button and axis, and could even use the Hat Switch for POV, which is something I thought was not possible given the age the joystick.
Instead of faulting the developers and deflecting like a child, ask for help and this awesome community will come to your aid.
My post was hidden by the system. Thought I had jumped on the pile only to realize I had not!
I disagree! The launch is anything but a flop.
I agree with you. A large patch inc today will probably iron out the main issues that folk have - however, this is still one of the best releases for a AAA game in recent memory. I haven’t had any issue whatsoever - except for some of the autopilot systems not being fully operational - in over 30hrs play time.
The patch is not today. I am so annoyed at the person who posted that false information.
It’s been a regular misunderstanding/clumsy use of the word “update”.
And he did the same back in the alpha/beta phases too.
Trust me, even you will have problems with Google Earth
lol
Random comment to add about this kind of situation. Imagine being told to open “Zendesk” tickets, individually, for every thing you noticed that isn’t right.
Oh wait that’s what they think people will do. Repeat what they already said in the forum. Dig up all their system details and meticulously create a report. For an issue already reported by testers, on a now released product.
Don’t really care for that at all.
A very sensible answer I wish there would be more like this one.
Setting up controls isnt an instant process… sure getting things to “see” each other should be, but a week later and I am still re-mapping buttons and axis on my HOTAS to get things the way I want them and that seem right to me… 4 hours seems like it wasnt an honest attempt at anything.
I see your point of view about the almost constant berating of this sim in various elements. It does get monotonous when the issues are unfounded, or easily solved with some basic troubleshooting. That being said, I choose to deal in facts:
The sim, while brilliant and beutiful, was released too soon for whatever reason. As a result, many things that have been known about for a long time, many of them simulation breaking for people, have gone by the wayside at the expense of an expedient release. Whatever reason I could come up with are plausible, but thats not fact. So now here Asobo are left holding the bag trying to fix all of these things as quick as they can. And here we are giving them the gears! Now I’m not saying that consumers shouldn’t apply pressure where necessary, i mean, we have rights too no? But it is the client, Microsoft who has made this decision and Asobo who has to sort out the Technical side. People being whiny? Yes, to a degree, but we are consumers now, and we have a certain standard for what we would have purchased. For instance, if I had know that the wind was going to be broken upon release? I would have stuck with my last platform of choice until I knew that THIS BASIC and ADVERTISED critical simulation element was present. The sim is clearly more brilliant than anything anyone of us have come across save for real flight experience. But for many of us, this is the only way we will get close to this experience! So I feel that we should continue bringing attention to legitimate issues, it saddens me that this sim was released in this way to be honest. But again, I’m speaking from a place of heart and not money.
