On digital flight decks you can see the position of other aircraft nearby - I get that it’s not really radar but other aircraft sending out their location data. I’ve noticed on several flights that there are “bogeys” in the sky - I see their lights or their contrails fly close by but I do not see them reported on my map amongst the other aircraft I do see (so I’m not zoomed out too far that they don’t show). I don’t fly with nameplates on and can’t pause to turn them on since that would mess with my external flight logger. Anyone know if multiplayer aircraft don’t show up on the map display and its only AI aircraft we can see? Or some other combination? Wondering what those bogeys are
I have wondered about how it all works also.I remember once or twice flying the 747-800 and seeing the tcas white moving arrows of other aircraft ,but mostly I can almost never get tcas to show.I’ve switched it onto ta/ra etc but not sure the switch actually functions anyway.I wish I could remember exactly what I did to get it to work on the very rare occasions it has.
Hi,
for whatever reason,Multiplayer planes don’t appear on any map.
You can use third party addons,to make them visible,if they use the same addon.

I have the transponder switched to TA/RA in the Asobo 747-8. Maybe flown it 50 hrs so far and have never seen anything displayed on my map. Is TCAS functioning in this plane for anyone?
Not only is TCAS functional, but it is an extremely deep simulation that operates precisely according to the actual TCAS-II official specification.
Normal mode only displays aircraft that are within 2200 feet of your altitude, so you more often than not won’t see anything. You can expand the window to 9900 feet, though.
Ok, i see a 3 position switch to display “above” “below” and a middle position “N”. No idea what N is i guess thats normal mode. So does above and below increase the seperation to 9900?
Quite impressive really then.
Does this mean that multiplayer aircraft are shown now?
Yes, indeed they are.
That’s correct, above will be +9900/-2200 and below will be +2200/-9900.
thank you for the guidance.
