So here I am sitting at the Meigs addon threshold, and I look to my left and see these weird trees built into rocks. I have seen this before at other airports like KSBA. I am running at almost all ultra settings but on a 1040 monitor.
Has anyone else seen this and how can I fix it. I guess it’s another glitch. Not a big problem, as I just took off did some touch and goes. Didn’t affect me but theres something happening here and I don’t know what it is.
I see that all the time. No idea why. It shouldn’t be like that.
yes same here on ultra settings and 1080p.
i dont pay attention for trees a lot but they are clearly visible against bright background as in your pic.
i’ll send some pics if i’ve got similar artifacts
that only happens in photogrametric areas. That is a 3d scanned tree. They try to remove it but it don’t work all the time
Yes, and I think that is a custom airport, if memory serves? The developer should have masked that area off to stop trees being generated in that area. I’m not sure if that can also block photogrammetry though.
Yep try flying around Santa Monica. All the palm trees are painted on rocks.
That’s a normal part of photoimagery. If you don’t know how photoimagery works, it takes photographs from satellites and aerial photography from multiple angles and uses a computer to create a 3d model. Of course, it’s impossible for satellites and aircraft to see under objects like trees or bridges. That’s why there is that kind of false object under many things in the sim. You also see it in the Apple Maps Flyover images or other similar tech. It’s not a bug; there is simply no way for the sim to know what’s under there. Not until you get a custom scenery package from a third party developer.
