What are you using for a VFR map in VR (WMR)?

The default VFR map is as useless in VR as it is in pancake mode. Maybe it’s “cheating,” but I like to know which roads are which and what I’m looking at when I’m flying VFR, especially in dense areas.

Is there an in-game replacement for the built-in map that people are having success with?

I had hoped that I’d be able to use LittleNavMap through the WMR launcher, but it doesn’t seem compatible; it launches in 2D but doesn’t display in the cockpit . (Navigraph seems like it works, but I don’t want to pay for it every month.) Any other ideas?

That’s not at all cheating – that’s how real pilots fly. You’d never fly VFR without at least a chart, or in most cases an EFB (Electronic Flight Bag) like Foreflight.

Unfortunately, I currently do not have a good solution for this. I am planning to experiment with Navigraph and using a virtual desktop window, but at the moment I just want to get performance dialed in. I’m really struggling not having my maps, however.

Maybe try this?

You can get pretty much every application you want/need to show up in VR. Btw, OVR Toolkit has just been updated with better OpenXR support because of MSFS…

I’m not using SteamVR (had problems with it). But I just found a solution that is “good enough” for me:

There are some readability issues, but I can manage with my G2. I just move the map to the copilot chair and I’m good to go.

Just downloaded it. Thanks for posting the link :grinning:

I like it, but even with my G2 I’m struggling to read the names of towns etc. The writing is far too small. If I zoom in to read it, it gets even smaller.
However, someone has posted a solution on the flightsim.to site

150% is a big improvement, but 300% is perfect.

Steve
