Yes, there is a long list of bugs I’d like to see fixed and features yet to be fully implemented, but performance and stability have been fine for me.
Also it’s clear that this is a big step forward in ground physics, flight physics, weather, flight planning, interaction with world (walking!), clouds, lighting, etc. etc.
This is no incremental difference, this is clearly a new simulator. Just one that needs a fair amount of patching.
It’s a flight simulator. I don’t want to walk in MSFS 2024. In my opinion that’s wasted development time. But if it helps to attract gamers and found development costs it’s ok.
I know that I join others in our frustration with 2024 as it was released, but as many have pointed out, the forum is filling up with opinion threads. I’m not directing my comment to any thread or person in particular, but I think we’ve made our opinion clear (and I’ve done it myself).
I understand and support the right for everyone to state their opinion (you paid for it, after all) and I do appreciate how this forum had allowed that to happen.
That stated, I would like to read informative threads that aren’t based solely on opinion. I know that I can go into each one and mute it, but my suggestion is for the mods to create a new category (‘Opinion’ maybe?) which the thread could be tied to by both users and moderators. That way, if we want, we can just wipe all of them out with a few clicks and get back to reading about 2024.
Again, I know I can mute these threads myself, and ironically, if I’d created this post in a new thread, that would be considered an opinion and would be subject to this classification - but that’s my point. Thank you for your consideration.
Because we are tired or paying for a product we are not getting. We are also tired of being unpaid beta testers and having to wait weeks, months, or even years for things that we were advertised and promised on day 1.
Yes, it’s complex, but that’s why A) they have hundreds of people working on it and B) why it costs more than other games.
MS is also a $3 TRILLION company, the 2nd largest provider of cloud services and has 40 years of experience with producing flight simulator. They should have known better and done better. They (not the users) should have learned from FS2020.
Also, Microsoft advertised certain features and promoted it with slick videos. They pushed the envelope, not the users, and now they need to deliver.
Finally, no other industry gets away with this, and enough is enough.
Once of these days they will push it too far and someone with too much time and too much money on their hands will file a class action lawsuit. And while nearly impossible to win, it would not be great publicity for MS or Asobo.
Seriously, why should my PC experience suffer just so someone can play their flightsim on the worst Xbox? I’ve invested in hardware, I have HD space, I can buy more if I need it, I have big screens, my rig can support 10x the stuff an Xbox can.
I bet the promo videos weren’t done on an Xbox … why is my PC running a ■■■■■■ version of what was promoted?
I’m just going to say, regardless of what you personally think, everyone has the right to access a product/service. That includes Xbox users. They have as much right to fly on MSFS 2024 just as PC users do. As someone who has both a Series X and a gaming PC, I’m all for them making compromises to ensure everyone has a chance at flight simulation. And not gatekeeping MSFS and keeping it as an elitist hobby.
Run what you like, but the sim shouldn’t be strangulated for those who actually have decent hardware. If you want to limit yourself be my guest but having everything catered to the lowest common denominator sucks. At some point you have to accept your hardware won’t run things, otherwise we’d all be running the cheapest Xbox.
You mean, specifically MSFS, which has been released for Xbox? Or do you mean, like, generally?
Cuz if it’s the latter, why don’t Playstation users have a right to access MSFS? Nintendo Switch users? Atari 2600 users?
If it’s the former, I’d agree, since the game was released for Xbox. They deserve to be able to play the game at a satisfactory level. I just wish they didn’t, because they’re dragging the game down.
If it cannot run on xbox and is crippling the pc market then it needs to be pulled and re released in two guises PC version and an Xbox "game"version …the two platforms cannot share and one is hurting the other …i am on xbox and like i have said before i do NOT think this 2024 is console compatible, they want it to be and that is at the cost of the PC user , IMO!
What is the point of a compromised version of the game that will “run” on an xbox, i am old enough to know that flight sims have and will be PC …yes it is great and convenient that i do not “need” a 3K pc but the reality is i probably do to enjoy this as an aviation enthusiast…console release is money driven and i understand why it is that way a lot of people own an Xbox. If they want to release it for pc/console then it SHOULD work on both as advertised …shouldn’t it?
oh no dont blame us lol I would gladly buy a 5 or 10TB xbox storage expansion card for this game. I think the key reason, is to turn MSFS into a service, then one day they will want 15$ per month or more to play it.
Weeks ago in a conference call, it was said the software employed a ‘New’ computing strategy where tasks will be allocated across the available cores in the processor.
Making a lighter job for the processor.
As some9ne in a very large xbox group of 35,000 plus members i think i can confidently say that many of the xbox crowd have an xbox souly for msfs so storage really isnt much of an issue. Many of them also arent really a fan of the idea of streaming so in reality this whole streaming thing, at least from my pov and what i see, is geared toward a very very small minority in the community.
