That’s one of the things that gobsmacked me when I was learning to fly IRL, though I wouldn’t limit it just to Florida.
Some other things of note that I noticed when I took a cross THE country flight in a 172 (twice actually) is how low the population density is once you get west of the Mississippi, how much farmland is out there, many of them circular in shape (I later learned is because it’s easier to water them in that shape), and that there are these strange looking tall buildings (I later learned were grain “ladders”) everywhere!
Also, how much of the US is simply untouched by the hands of man. People who say we’re overpopulated would benefit from taking a flight like what I did, we’ve got more room for expansion than you could possibly imagine.
