What did you do in MSFS today? (Part 1)

I flew the Boeing 747 for more than 2.5 hours at 43000 feet before the sim collapsed and sent me back to the Xbox Dashboard, less than an hour before landing. :rage:

Any Hair left ?

I’m balding regardless so it doesn’t matter. I just took a deep breath, shook my head and decided to watch something instead.

Have a look at that Jane Wicker movie. There’s nothing quite like looking at inspirational Human Beings at their best.

FINALLY got my weird CTDs sorted. Not exactly sure what was causing them, but either FS Economy was taking out MSFS, or MSFS was taking out FS Economy. The result was random CTDs with not helpful entries in Event Viewer.

I removed and reinstalled SimLink, the FSE client, and all my Navigraph stuff. Updated my GPU drivers (GeForce 2070 RTX). I haven’t yet out in my add-ones. Gotta go download all the updated versions. Been flying the trusty C208 here in Hawaii though. (I too am waiting for the Quest Kodiak to finally get here!)

Flew from PHNG (Marion E Carl Field at Marine Corps Base Hawaii) to PHSF (Bradshaw Army air Field) over on the Island of Hawaii. It’s a 50 min flight or so, maybe like 54. The WX is good out here tonight, so no issues at all. Oops - I went PHSF → PHNG first, had some dinner, then turned around and flew PHNG → PHSF. Thankfully the WX at PHSF wasn’t bad like it was 2 nights ago. I had to use the Synthetic Vision on the G1000 to line up with the runway. I saw the REIL at about 200’ AGL. Thankfully I knew it was there, just …not when I would see it!

No crashes to desktop on the flights tonight. I’m cautiously optimistic that I’m back to a stable MSFS install. Slowly building up $ in FSE with a friend (just the 2 of us!) to buy our thrid plane, a CJ4 since he likes those funny airplanes without propellers. Meanwhile, at 145kts at 12,000’ AGL…

All in all a good evening of MSFS!

What plane is that?

Great photos!

Wow that is a sharp looking plane. One thing I’ve noticed is the Asobo tail draggers seem to taxi pretty well but the third party planes I’ve downloaded struggle. Is this one touchy as well?

It steers ok, it’s just hard to see where I’m going.

Seems strictly photogrammetry scenery, denoted as compliant or not, is fine with SU5. Went over to Bath from Bristol Airport to see if it was OK and it checked out. Cheers!

Nice flight into Milford Sound. But does anyone know which setting i need to change to stop my addon aircraft appearing as static? It’s cool in some places but not in most.

Each aircraft/livery’s aircraft.cfg file specifies whether it can appear as static content or not. You can go in and edit them if you like, but beware if you update them you’ll need to fix that again.

(Not sure if this applies to Marketplace planes, where you usually can’t get at the raw file contents.)

Took a quick flight from the US side of Niagara to enjoy the falls. After a few spins around the falls and down past the Rainbow Bridge, I landed back on the Canadian side just outside St Catherines.

I did a short Cessna Citation training flight from Williamson Sodus to Buffalo Lancaster in the Cessna Citation longitude you basically have to fly towards the finger lakes due to a MOA area and a restricted area right above the NY lakefront because of a power plant in between Sodus and Rochester NY so I just use the NYI90 (NY state thruway) and the Erie Canal as my visuals for NY flying a lot of times

Did a familiarization run in the Cessna 140 (with supplemental GPS on my iPad) before trying a dead-reckoning practice flight tomorrow.

From Aurora State (KUAO) near Portland, Oregon due west over the hills to Tillamook (KTMK) on the Pacific coast, then south along the coast to Newport (KONP). Finally eastward over the hills, back into the Willamette Valley to land at Corvallis (KCVO) from which I already know my way home by eye.

Since there’s not a convenient road or river to follow for the westward and eastward portions, I plan to use dead reckoning – stick approximately to the direct course heading for the expected time, until it’s possible to spot the destination by eye – hence my initial run to familiarize myself with what each stop looks like!

Opened the door to hang my head outside to help taxi this tailwheel bird at Aurora

“Miss Raviole”

Approaching Tillamook, home of Oregon’s famous Tillamook Creamery – they give factory tours and sell fresh ice cream, stop on by!

Heading down the coast…

Back to the Willamette Valley, approaching Corvallis:

Parked next to a more modern Cessna.

Attempted to conclude my SE Asia tour, but had a fuel emergency (aka the random fuel temperature bug).

During a random systems check I note only 1600kg of fuel remaining

checked the nearby major airports, change the flight plan to Brunei and and managed the descent to use the least fuel possible, without a long low approach burning extra fuel. Came in slightly over the glideslope and parked with 700kg remaining

Did a flight in the area of the Caldor and Tamarack fires. Surprised to see snow in the mountains, Placerville airport completely flat, and no developer has done Lake Tahoe. One developer did do a treatment of the residential airport at Cameron Park. The planes parked in driveways are an interesting touch. Someone else did the two casinos in the area.
Still, a gorgeous flight reminding of the beauty and risk of living in that part of my home state.

Was flying for Madrigal Electromotive GmbH and wanted to pickup… uh… some cargo from Albuquerque Intl Sunport (KABQ) when I noticed that something was breaking bad:

Note the floating terminal rooftop.
