Is airport USEI a STOL field? Longest runway is 357 feet. Loads of fun trying to land there using the Cessna 172 classic. Was able to hit the end of the runway, stomp on the brakes and come to a complete stop before the end. Taking off was another story…
Had to laugh to myself when I started turning around to take off again at the planes that were parked here. None of them could have landed here. I barley made it to a stop before the end in the C172.
Here is a shot of the same airport in Google Earth, and it also measures almost 364 feet for runway 14, which was the runway I landed on…
I also have to laugh to myself about the people at the airports who guide you into you’re parking spot. Here you are at an airport where the outside temp is around 0 degrees F, and they are standing around in short sleeve shirts. Would be nice if there were several versions of the outside airport operators that would be dressed in the appropriate clothes for the weather conditions. Another detail that Asobo missed.
Taking off, I ran off the edge of the runway, skirted through the snow and finally made it up.
I should post more often. I have been using MSFS 2020 since it came out, around 2000 hours flight time, and I always taken off at the last airport I landed at. For the most part, I use the live weather, but will adjust the time so I am flying in daylight. I switch planes depending on where I want to go and how fast I want to get there. Lately, I have been tagging all of the airports that I land at in LittleNavMap application and try not to land at the same airports. That’s how I discover fun airports like this one.
Like all of the wind generators lined up on the west side of Palm Springs. What is amazing, if you have ever driven into Palm Springs in real life, on I-10 heading west coming from Phoenix, dang that 9000 ft + mountain is tall. We have 9000-10000 feet peaks here in Utah, but our elevation is around 4000-5000 feet. When you see a 9000 ft + tall peak west of Palm Springs, it is impressive!!.
There is a tram that goes to the top of the mountain. Been on it a couple of times. Quite the view from the top.
Working Title’s Dev 10 version of the G3X is fully functional. It has the same limitations as the G3000 until both of them receive the G1000 NXi treatment; not all AIRAC leg types supported. VNAV is a manual affair. But it manages LNAV just fine - I took the Vertigo on a cross-country following I-80 and it was pretty serviceable. I love the fast transit speed and 900 nm range. You just need to work around the U-turn bug by doing a DTO to the IAF.
Tonight I did the now-mandatory under-the-Golden-Gate-Bridge run in the new SC Designs F-16. This is two-seater D model. Tons of fun in an incredibly maneuverable plane.
I watched a full AI flown flight from KFLL (Fort Lauderdale) to KTPA (Tampa Int’l) in the A320. It was a pretty perfect flight with the landing actually on the runway. I finally figured out that if you want the AI to land on the runway and not a taxiway or grass, put in a full IFR flight plan. The only area where it did not do well on was on descent to intercept the localizer. It went into overspeed. Also the cruise speed always seems way too slow on AI flights. Anyhow that’s what I did on MFS today.
Interesting, so the blue car at the 11 oclock, seemed to be stuck in an endless loop back and forth like it was stuck in some invisible whrilpool, When you see the truck come along as he passes the blue car he also becomes stuck, back and forth over and over again. At some point in time a little red car manages to get into the frey, so now we have 3 of them do the dance of death on that one spot.
But looking at the pics I took while this was happening, it doesnt seem that this things appeared on film the way a snapped them.
Unless of course in the desert middle of the day…It was a mirage…wow thats some real intense programing to add mirages in. Bwhahahahah
GVAC (Amílcar Cabral International Airport, Cape Verde) to an island just off the coast of Brazil - SBFN (Fernando De Noronha Airport, State of Pernambuco, Brazil).
I will try it! I did wonder if it was still possible and if someone had actually tried / done it on here successfully.
Currently cruising my way south and wishing I had bought the AI shipping mod on the marketplace, as there is lots of ocean below, to the right, to the left, up front, behind…
Thats one of the best things about a sim … making a plane do things it shouldnt be able to do. ;p
well make sure to drop to 25’ agl while over the ocean that should keep you busy for awhile, plus the rush of the water gives you an illusion of speed. Why I never leave the ground the world goes by alot faster when your 50’ off the deck!
Thought I would try the AI Pilot, flying from Southend to Manchester. I have to say if a real pilot flew like that when we got to Manchester and parked, I would punch him the face.
Oh, that’s our super basic free version that we made a year ago but hadn’t touched since then - shown in this compilation video with some of our other vintage aircraft - Vintage Aircraft Compilation - YouTube
