San Diego is Marine country…
Made quite a big jumpr from Port Elisabeth (FAPE) to Johannesburg International (FAOR). I was kind of afraid as a lot of people were complaining over SU9, but the flight went on without problems.

Instead of another trip in my African tour I wanted to try something different.
First I tried doing the Iberia bush trip, but had trouble starting the engine (did everything that is to be done and works everywhere else for the DA62, but as soon as the engine started it dropped rpm and died, would appreciate help if someone has it, but I guess that is antoher topic)
So I started the other bush trip with the DA62, the one in Australia and everything went just fine

Long trips seem cool at the start, but they bore me a little after a while. In any case … I continued my trip to Mount Etna going from LIRN to LIRI, but made a small stop in IT-0201 by mistake. It was a grass strip close to LIRI. This is all due to lack of proper preparation.
Air was smooth all-round.
Anyways, flight was uneventful, apart from landing at the wrong airfield. Have learned that the FK9 (free add-on) may have something to do with my consistent coming up high on finals: full flaps and full rudder and “riding the stall horn” gave me -200 fpm. That seems not right, even for an ultralight there should be some more drag from this.

Weather looking good here in Napoli:
That’s a really neat little mountain there (Mount Vesuvius):
The Sorrentine Peninsula, also home of the Sorrento VOR “SOR”, which I did not end up spotting:
Here’s the grass strip I’m landing on:
Wait … that’s not where I was supposed to go …
Oh yes, that one:
Full flaps, full rudder, -200 fpm:

Tried flying a H135 from London Heathrow to London City airport
It was unsurporisingly hard to land, but that shouldn’t really be a surprise as this was my first half an hour in a helicopter.
Then to cool off the excitements I did the second leg of the Australian bush trip

JF’s BAe-146 is tremendous & the most realistic jetliner in MSFS so far.
Here are some shots over Greece.

Took the FK9 more inland, from LIRI to PZ02, and edging closer to Mount Etna, where a brand new Piper Arrow Turbo III is waiting for me.
Weather was good, allowing me to well clear the mountains, flying 8000 ft AMSL. The airport itself was at 2000 ft, it was remarkably easier to get the FK9 to descend. Hm.

Going inland, the views are really great:
The flight is just one heading for 25 minutes, but the views are good:
The highway is A2 / E45
The lake (Lago Pietra del Pertusillo) offers an easy landmark to find the airfield:
Easier to lose my altitude here, maybe it’s the 2000 ft?

Sat around for 3 hours while, once again, MSFS lost its mind and decided it needed to reinstall itself…again. ![]()
Started yesterday, fresh install of Kubuntu 20.* on a spare 240gig ssd I forgot I had, got vmware running, got steam running, installed MSFS to run with proton, Download speeds were averaging 90 t0 200mbps for the install.
Messed with it a bit and it kept hanging, at black screen white screen, was just about to say forget about it, when I decided to do research, turns out you have to used the -fastlaunch switch.
Relaunched got to main menu, world menu, start flight, and it just sat there forever. Gave up the ghost for the day.
This morning started again, launch mmenu, wmenu, launch … it worked but wow Ultra is definatly not gonna work on this. Another restart set to High End computer … launch it worked good start the plane, and start to taxi to launch bingo, it recognizes my X56 but the bindings are all wrong ie ‘pull up on the stick and your view starts moving toward the floor’ lol…but it worked so the next step is to reconfig my sticks and see how it is. Still cant find my usercfg.opt file in linux …
To Be Continued???

Spent a week in NYC, left for Mexico to continue my North American leg of this world tour Sunday Morning around 9 am.
American Airlines AA 2469 New York City JFK - Durango DGO
Airbus A320 AAL 2469 KJFK - MMDO nonstop.
New York City - Durango
Landed around 1 pm local time and met my friend at the airport and am staying with her in Durango.
My first time in Durango, “Welcome to Durango.”
Am in Durango, Mexico in the game right now.
I sort of can not come to Mexico and not meet up with her.
Next we’re going to fly to Baja, me and her with AeroMexico Connect for my show in Mexico before returning to the US to finish this leg of the tour; I already checked, I’m allowed to leave the US for up to 30 days to Canada and Mexico provided it’s for the same reason I’m in the US and return to the US on my visa. That said, in this fantasy, I’ve got (among other things) a house/holiday home in Springfield, Oregon, so, whatever.
