What did you do in MSFS today? (Part 1)

It was Lake Nakuru indeed. I circled around a bit, then gave up, but I wouldn’t give up on wildlife just based on that. I could find the seagulls in Croatia and I remember finding some bigger game when MFS came out.

Of course, this one might just be bugged, or conditional.

A short scenic flight over Greece. LGSK (Skiathos) to LGZA (Zakynthos), Eurowings BAe 146-300. This region definitely needs some World Update love (I’m positive it’ll come one day). VOR DME Runway 34 approach via a 12nm DME arc from ZAC VOR. This aircraft handles superbly, its a joy to fly the DME arc and land with the autopilot off :grinning:

Flew VIDP to Lukla in the Junkers JU52

Kicked everyone out of my Turbo Arrow III in Malta and returned to Catania to admire mount Etna some more.

Had quite an adventure. It started when I was starting the engine and I looked up afterwards realising I forgot the hand-brake and so when I looked up I was already ON the runway … oopsie doodle.

While I am in the camp that the “turbulence” isn’t overdone, this ride was quite crazy. But I’m not sure it was “turbulence”.

At one point, my altimeter dropped 500 ft almost instantly, but there was no change in my vertical speed. I assume this was an abrupt change in the weather (pressure) and presumably also the wind, causing some violent happenings.

Then later, I had some hick-up when trying to make the auto pilot follow the ILS, banking me all the way into a spiral dive. Scary stuff.

Turbulence WAS pretty violent though. But I think it’s overreacting with the twitchiness of the Turbo Arrow, which is actually being looked at by the devs there. It’s something specific.

Anyway, approach was no fun at all, but I made it. Not the best flight though.

Everyone out!

So, after starting the engine, I found myself not where I should be … I’m hoping nobody noticed.

Someone in the way here …

Finally en-route, following the VOR’s

A giant vulcano seems like a very useful visual reference point:

Auto pilot, WHAT are you doing?

Back home, wings and wheels still attached … somehow

When did they add animals in Kenya? I looked and looked over a year ago. I thought they were farther north in Kenya. I have a mod from flightsim.to that adds animals in Tanzania. Never fails…

Yesterday, I flew the Aerosoft Twin Otter from Churchill Manitoba (CYYQ), across the Hudson Bay to the northern tip of the Ungava peninsula and then across the Hudson Straight to Iqaluit Nunavut (CYFB). At just shy of 800 NM, it was about at the limit of the aircraft’s range but I had an average of about a 15 knot tailwind for the trip so I arrived in CYFB with about 600 lbs of fuel still in the tank (about 1.25 hours at my economy cruise fuel burn of ~450 lbs/hr). Enroute, I overflew Ivujivik (CYIK), and I used that as my go/no go decision point for continuing on to CYFB. Had my fuel consumption been above plan at that point, I’d have landed and refuled at Ivujivik, but I had slightly more fuel in the tanks than planned at that point so I pressed on.

Weather wasn’t great in Churchill when we left (it was snowing lightly in IFR conditions), but it was VFR on top at 9000 feet for pretty much the entire flight (the aircraft is unpressurized, so we couldn’t go higher than that without oxygen). Conditions in Ivujivik and Iqualuit were forecast to be VFR and Iqualuit has an ILS, so by the 1-2-3 rule, I planned my flight without need of an alternate.

I’m delivering the aircraft (in Norlandair livery) to Akureyri in Iceland from Viking Aviation in Victoria, BC (CYYJ) where it was purchased second hand. Our first leg was from Victoria to Lloydminster, Alberta (CYLL), then we did Lloydminster to Churdhill the second day. Yesterday’s flight was the 3rd leg. Next, we’re on to either Kangerlussuaq (BGSF) or Narsarsuaq (BGBW) depending on which has better weather. From there, we’ll go to Reykjavik (BIKF) in one hop before making a short scenic trip across Iceland to Akureyri (BIAR).

Interestingly, the crossing of Hudson Bay was our longest over-water stretch if we finish the trip via Kangerlussuaq. It’s a big patch of water (although oddly there wasn’t any ice on it in the game). I understand that it’s legal to be out that far from shore so long as there are life rafts and other survival gear onboard and we’re not carrying any paying passengers or cargo. I’m hoping the weather works out for finishing the trip via the northern option because the mountains along the east coast of Greenland are spectacular in real life and I’d like to see them in the game. I like the enroute alternates better on that routing too. We’d probably plan to overfly Kulusuk (BGKK) on Greenland’s east coast and use that as a go/no go decision point for the crossing to Iceland.

Well it wasn’t today but yesterday… I had an early morning low level flight from Ukiah (California I believe) (KUKI) and it was supposed to end at Charles Schulz KSTS but things looked cool so I went on down to KSFO. I had arrived at KUKI from KFOT the day before.

Decided to fly into space.

It just dawned on me, if you fly that in to ‘space’, and then switch to dev mode and change the aircraft to oh say I dont know a C152, what would happen?

Think Im going to have to try that next time Im out and about…
