Allow me to recommend US-11 south from Syracuse NY to wherever it ends. I know that - at least until Va./NC. it’s a fabulous road to drive down. I suspect that the scenery from the air would be no less astounding. In Va, you can make side trips to Natural Bridge, the Shenandoah National park, the Great Smokey Mountains in NC, and so forth. Again I know it’s a great road to drive and I would love to fly it myself. (Once I acquire sufficient skill so that I don’t crash into mountains!) There are a number of smaller airports along the way so you should be golden.
Another flight would be along the Appalachian Trail.
I like to mix it up so we’re not lingering too much on the same region, but US-11 is definitely on my short list and will be featured soon! I almost started this series with it, but US-1 won out as a more classic starting point for the tour. Thanks for the recommendation!
