just occured to me in that first image - Does 2024 let you start on the water like that or did you have to do the rigamaroll with setting it in place with the Y key?

Chesapeake Regional (KCPK) to Dare Co Regional (KMQI) in the default Fairchild A10 
Yes, you can choose to start any aircraft with floats (or amphibians such as the albatross) in the water anywhere in the world in 2024. It is advisable to start a few yards off-shore to avoid being stuck in the shallows, especially in windy conditions. Also, take note of wind-speed & direction. Your aircraft will veer into the wind and could drift & get stuck on the shoreline before you have had time to start the engines if starting cold-n-dark. Plus, water reacts to wind - including with live weather - so you need to know how to taki & take-off (and land) when there are swells & waves. If the wind-speed is too great, it may be impossible to taxi, take-off or land safely, as in real life.
Decided to fly to the coordinates where the Titanic sank. I took off from Halifax, Nova Scotia.
Didn’t take long to lose sight of land and any other players.
3 hours and 50 minutes later, I landed at the coordinates 41.725556, -49.946944. I’ve never flown this far into the middle of the ocean before, apart from airliners at 40,000 ft on my way across the pond. Kind of lonely.
Instead of flying 4 hours back, I continued an hour or so east until I caught up with a Miltech carrier (I didn’t know they had them this far out!) Maybe they can toss me down a sandwich or something before I fly back to Canada… Fortunately I still have full main tanks of fuel for the journey back.
Finally decided to challenge myself to learn something completely new, so I did my very first VOR flight - no map, no GPS, too bad eyesight to discern anything on the tiny map thingie on the Twin Beech and two VOR’s with one inbound and one outbound radial jotted down in an Editor session.
I actually arrived where I planned to arrive! Took the Twin Beech from Leipzig to Paderborn by way of GOT and WRB.

Flew the default Boeing fa18 from Dare Co Regional (KMQI) to Costal Carolina Regional (KEWN)
On the bright side, we got to enjoy the beach all to ourselves. 
A short 30-minute trip from Blairsville (KDZJ) to Heaven’s Landing (GE99), but with a 20-minute stopover at the Brasstown Bald Tower POI (WU22).
Here we are at Blairsville. The Joby is charged up & ready to go:
Brasstown Bald Tower is about 9 NM from the airport:
One can land at the parking spot below the tower:
And follow the trail from the traiilhead to the top:

The fort Jefferson POI is quite well modelled. This is the view from the national Park Service dock:
I’d expect to see more NP signage around the site. One can cross the bridge to the fort entrance, but cannot enter:
But one can land inside the fort to explore (no signage here either):
There’s a camping spot set up for you at the campsite, and a nice spot on the beach to relax:
But I’m not spending the night here, so it’s time to leave:

Random airline ops
PMDG 737 700 from Costal Carolina (KEWN) to Gainesville Regional (KGNV)
Flew from New York City to Paris in the Tristar! Even saw a few other players out in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean which was a pleasant surprise.
It was a beautiful day with live weather too.
Got auto pilot situated after I did all my estimates for timing and setting altitude changes. Apart from a few adjustments, I mostly let the plane do its thing until I was about 120NM out, then I gave the sim my full attention again.
Around 6 and a half-ish hours later, my passengers were able to deboard and I was able to go to bed haha!
2020, Coonamble to Brisbane. Note: Make sure you load up the fuel you’ll need for the distance. I spent so many restarts trying to get those generators working, I forgot. Shucks, but I’ve finally got the finesse for the gen start (turning it on is TWO movements, not one flashy click. Turn it on, pause, reset - it seriously needs that pause).
Richards Field (04FA) to Everglades Airpark (X01), visiting the WU22 Shark Valley POI en-route.
Richards Fieldis just your average grass airstrip in the game:
Shark Valley POI is just 14 NM away, a tower in a small grove of trees. Nearby sights are the “highpoints” of Rattlesnake ridge and Panther mound, both 1m above sea level:
I’ve landed by the carpark for the short walk to the tower:
No steps - just walk up the ramp to the top (just be careful of not walking through the retaining walls, or you’ll plummet to the ground, not, of course, that that happened to me!)
