Switched the Vision Jet for the adorably fugly and practical Grand Caravan. I’m giving myself the chance to fly a bit more hands on and enjoy a trip through the southern islands of Japan as we make our way to the bush trip start on Oshima.
Took off from Taipei Songshan RCSS and swung by Ishigaki and Miyakojima. I had no idea so many of these islands are so far from what we think of as Japan, right at the other end of the East China Sea. I definitely enjoy getting free geography lessons as I navigate around. Touched down at Naha ROAH on the tip of Okinawa with no issues - this chunky bird is pretty stable on a approach, like the 172’s big brother almost.
I think our next leg will be full VFR, low and slow over Okinawa and the nearby Islands on our way up the archipelago.

2020, calibrated the F-4F controls, which were needed on a plane with no AP. Trim, trim, trim… Had hoped Got Friends would’ve worked out the ‘folded wing’-won’t open issue with Airshow Assistant, but, alas, noooooooo! So, I ‘escorted’ one of the Strawberries and found the opposing fleet. Have to get some practice in on the Got Friends launch and landing techniques…
