What Does "Fixed flight condition weather live always available" Mean?

I’m unclear what this is indicating as a fix.

I am still seeing the Live Weather turning itself into Custom and/or altering the time without my input, such as when changing aircraft, entering the flight and looking at the weather panel and/or quitting a flight and starting a new one.

Of course, I have no idea if that line item in the patch notes is meant to address any of this.

Thoughts?

Good question. It could be the issue you are mentioning Flight Conditions settings change every flight but apparently not fixed or it could be this one recently reported: Weather sudden change to default weather or something else ?

It seems like the situation is stranger that it was in the pre-beta version.

I just restarted the sim, clicked Free Flight and the Flight Conditions, again, showed “Custom”. When I clicked Flight Conditions to set it back to Live, it was already set to Live.

When I closed the Flight Conditions and returned to the World Map, it was, of course, now set to Live.

I don’t recall this level of oddity in the pre-beta version.

It would be nice if a CM could inquire with Asobo on what they meant by the line item in the patch notes. Were they trying to address this? Is this a knock-on effect of some other fix?

Hey @NixonRedgrave,

I’ve already inquired to ask for further clarification as to the details about this specific patch note. As soon as I hear anything else I’ll respond here, however please note that it is now the end of the working week so I may not hear back until next week!

Thanks

No worries, from me on the time frame!

Thank you for communicating that to me, it is always greatly appreciated!

If you used the time slider on the weather menu pre-beta, the (live) weather changes too. This should stay on live weather and only the sun’s position should change.

If you want to use the 24 hour live weather feature you can use the “live” tab in the weather menu.

Maybe the issue was that on the Flight Conditions screen, the “Live” option was staying enabled when moving the time slider back ?.

Or

If you disable Live Weather in the online settings clicking on “Live” has no effect in the Flight Conditions:

We would need someone not under the beta to confirm.

I’ve had that happen to me before the beta. I saw you complain about it pre beta but I guess I misunderstood your complaint.

It just seems that what gets set on one page does not always set the same needed variables everywhere needed. I myself gave up and just fly ‘custom’ all the time. The last time I saw the Live Weather clouds, they weren’t too attractive.
P.S.: I have no idea what they mean or in several other areas either (like airport light meshes?? what the heck are those?)

Yeah, what I’d noted pre-beta was how changing aircraft would change the weather setting.

I didn’t think I’d seen the “it’s on Custom, click Flight Conditions, find it already set to Live, do nothing, exit Flight Conditions and find it now set on Live” thing.

4 posts were split to a new topic: Need help with Live Weather options

Can confirm this as well. Live weather is not ‘sticking’ or if it is, in the menus, it defaults to custom. Knowing if Live weather is working or on is extremely confusing in MSFS 2024.

I’m giving a “UP” to the topic because this hasn’t been resolved yet. In fact, it ends up making the experience a bit complicated since the controls that the user defines are not saved. I like to use live weather and every time I create a flight in free flight mode, I have to waste time at this point. I don’t understand why it doesn’t maintain the 2020 logic.

Come on guys, contribute with your votes to make this adjustment possible soon in the 2024 improvement list.

Please fix this!
