I heard it mentioned on todays Q and A about pulling certain products from the marketplace. How does that effect people who already purchased it? Are we just out the money? Doesn’t seem right. If we pay for version 1 of a product and it gets replaced by version 2 then it would be nice to at least have a discount towards the purchase of version 2.
I would assume you get to keep it.
Nothing happens…life for you goes on! However it will not be available for others to buy.
You can request a refund or you can keep it.
Edit: Assuming it was pulled because it was broken*
Pretty sure OP is talking about the Vision Jet MSFS 2024 issue, not a “broken” addon.
Then I would think a refund unfair. You don’t get a refund on a DLC for any other game when the new version comes out.
If a product gets pulled from the Marketplace because it does not work or is experiencing repeated issues, you can request a refund for the product via Zendesk.
If you are referring to the announcement of FFX’s Vision Jet being in the base sim in MSFS2024, if they decide to pull it from the Marketplace, you would keep the product but there would not be a refund as it works in the sim currently.
The question Jorg asked for the community’s opinion on is if you think the Vision Jet should be left in the Marketplace for purchase, or removed from the Marketplace soon, as some people may buy it close to the release of 2024 without knowing it will be in the base version of that sim.
I suppose the edge case would be those who wish to stuck with 2020, and not upgrade to 2024, and still want the Vision Jet.
I would imagine there aren’t many of those, but it is possible.
I would say leave it. It’s a separate game and if they buy it without research… shrug
But what about putting in a disclaimer. Something like “This aircraft will come as part of Flight Simulator 24?” Might be best of both worlds.
I’ve discovered a ‘quirk’ in the marketplace/content manager system that effects anyone who plays on both PC and X Box. I had purchased Orbx EGNM version 1 when I was on PC and the recent ad for the IniBuilds version made me look for it but I couldn’t find it anywhere on my X Box which I moved to fully nearly a year ago. The Marketplace will show items purchased on PC if you select “Owned” and “All Platforms” but for some reason it does not show either EGNM V1 or S69 Lincoln. I had completely forgotten about the second one but I knew I had purchased EGNM except for the fact that I couldn’t prove it because there are no formal receipts and it was purchased before I began keeping records.
I’m not sure why not all purchases show up on X Box but maybe that and a better receipt system would be worth looking into to avoid people getting bent out of shape for no reason. I’ll apologize in advance for my suspicions but mistakes do happen and I wasn’t certain the implications of removing products had been thouroughly thought through – especially in light of me apparently missing an airport I knew I bought.
Today I spent many hours reinstalling FS onto my PC and the content manager there does show both EGNM and S69 and I was very happy to know that I wasn’t going crazy after all.
as for the Cirrus Jet - just put a notice that it will be included free in FS2024 and people can decide if they want it with that info available at time of purchase. i have no problems with it being offered free.
I assume EGNM and S69 are not available on XBOX thus don’t show on the MP when on that device.
I’ve just looked into this for my purchases and realised I have both Tenerife South and La Palma sceneries by Sim-Wings, which are now uninstalled and now showing as available on PC only - I’ve only ever played on Xbox.
I don’t recall getting a refund on either of these if they have been pulled from the marketplace, but I’m now not able to use them on Xbox….
With the way ‘credits’ are given to purchase marketplace addons, how are we supposed to find a ‘receipt’ for specific purchases, which will have been made over 12-18 months ago?
SW’s GCTS and GCLA haven’t been available for Xbox as long as I’ve been using MSFS (since the back end of Feb 2023). Obviously I can’t say prior to that — the only SW products I’ve ever seen for Xbox are EDDH and LEIB.
You would almost certainly have to ask. I highly doubt they’d do something like that automatically.
The one time I got a refund through the MP, I first contacted MS and asked for it. Then Microsoft sent me an email showing that the refund was authorized and told me to give it to Steam’s support. I did, and Steam immediately refunded the purchase.
Yeah it would have been prior to this, I began with the Xbox in Feb 2022. I remember going with SimWings at the time from my experience years ago on PC with FS9.
Thanks for the advice - with the amount of purchase I’ve made, I’m not sure I’d be able to figure out which is which now…
The percentage of people who read the forums or watch the Q&A sessions is relatively small. Asking those of us who are hear will tend to get biased answers based on we KNOW about it already.
I would say that you probably want to pull it. If people aren’t reading here or watching the Microsoft sessions, then they probably would be shopping spur of the moment. They wouldn’t realize a plane they didn’t know about wasn’t in the store. If you leave it in though, like Jorg said, if someone buys it in September, then FS2024 comes out maybe November, it perhaps would feel like a bad purchase (or wasted money) for people not knowing ahead of time.
Still their problem if they don’t research. But I think a disclaimer would be fine. Better than fine, it’d be good. That way everything is covered from the people that want to buy it to the people who would wait.
For example I can’t help but be surprised by all the people who find the upgrade cost so problematic for MSFS. Well, if they would have researched (like I did) before buying they’d know all that already.
I purchased the Aerosoft Twin Otter, back in '22, from the Marketplace. I learned a about six months ago that Aerosoft discontinued it, and subsequently removed from the Marketplace. I was very disappointed, since I had the previous FSX version and the add-on which included extra activities. I was hoping to see what might be added.
I’m still enjoying the Twotter, my favourite go-anywhere I choose to go aircraft.
I’m hopeful that the developers will revisit the model in the next version FlightSim.
I’m throwing a guess out that it’ll be a default aircraft in FS2024. The rumor was that it was pulled because it was sold to another third party.
