The FS Marketplace is no longer available, greyed out? Has not been available for some time? What has happened to it, or is it being upgraded?
I had that too… but I discovered in options that my online services were disabled. Probably during the days after the update when there were a lot of server problems.
Look if your online services are enabled.

As pampiermole alluded, this can happen when you don’t have connectivity. When Sim Update 11 came out, and the servers were getting slammed, I lost connectivity to the Marketplace, as well. I didn’t have my online services disabled, but simply navigating off of the Marketplace and to another screen like the World Map and then back to the Marketplace brought it back up. That may or may not work for you, depending on your circumstances.
I had the same problem. Searched the forum and found the suggested solution, but I lost the reference posting. I tried the suggested steps and it worked. As stated above: Go to General Options > Data and set all Online Functions Off, Apply Save, Set all Online functions ON, Apply and Save. After the last step you are good to go.
